When you think about denim on denim, an image of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake on the red carpet at the 2001 AMA's instantly pops into your head. Do not let that tragic fashion statement make you think it is impossible to pull off denim on denim!

With jean skirts and denim jackets making a huge comeback, and Spring weather finally kicking in, how can you not want to rock this look? Because denim apparel is offered in a variety of styles, the combinations for denim on denim looks are endless.

60's and Sunny

Pair a classic jean skirt from Free People with a light wash chambray top from J. Crew. These two pieces together make for a perfect casual Spring day look.

While you may think rocking denim on denim requires the classic jean jacket and pants combo, you are mistaken! In fact, the contrast between the light wash shirt and medium wash skirt offers enough denim detailing to complete the look without adding a jacket.

Whether you are walking to class on a beautiful day or headed to brunch with your girlfriends, this combination is guaranteed to turn heads. For an extra cute look, try pairing your outfit with a pair of neutral colored slip on sneakers. Not only do they match nearly anything, but they are comfortable too!

Fun and Funky

This fun ensemble is perfect for a chilly spring day or even a darty! The stud detailing on the jacket and rips in the jeans give the outfit more dimension, and the difference in washes between the two pieces work together for a nice contrast. Throw on a printed camo tee to add a splash of pattern and color to the look. But, if you're aiming for an effortless simple look, a plain white tee will suffice.

Bringing vests back

Every girl needs a denim skirt in her closet. Instead of pairing it with your go-to denim jacket, put on an old denim vest. Denim vests used to be a huge trend, and there is no reason why they shouldn't be again! Wear a long sleeve shirt if it's a bit chilly, but note that tanks and crop tops are great alternates for warmer weather.

Taking risks is always a good idea, especially when it comes to fashion. Even if it is something as minimal as wearing your two favorite denim pieces together, the payoff is huge. You’ll be rolling in the compliments on how fashion forward you look all day long!
