We all have that go-to makeup routine, but why not switch it up once in a while? Applying makeup becomes more fun as you learn new routines. Grab your makeup bag, blast some tunes, and try out these looks.
The "no-makeup" makeup look
This look gives off the illusion that you look flawlessly natural without even trying. With a little bit of light coverage concealer, a few strokes of powder to even up the skin tone, eyebrow gel and some mascara, you will be killing the "no-makeup" makeup look.
Start off by finding a concealer that gives you perfect coverage to hide those dark circles under your eyes. Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Concealer does wonders for the skin. For a perfect matte finish powder that gives the look of foundation without a cakey, heavy feel on your face, try Maybelline's Fit Me! Powder.
You can stick with your go-to mascara, but if you are looking to try a new brand, go with Maybelline Lash Sensational. It gives the illusion of false lashes, eliminating the need for eyeliner or shadow.
The Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel can tame any brow and hold it in place for the whole day. To top off the look, stroke some MAC Mineralize Blush in "Warm Soul" on your cheeks, and apply Blistex lip enhancer. You’re good to go!
A dewy fresh faced every day makeup look
Calling all girls who actually enjoy applying makeup! Although this look is a little more time-consuming than the first look, it's fun and looks beautiful with the right products and a little patience.
Starting with the Smashbox Photo Ready Primer, apply it all over your face. Then apply one coat of Revlon ColorStay Foundation by dotting it with a blending brush or beauty blender.
After that, detail your eyes with the best neutral pallette out there for a perfect neutral day time spring look: the Urban Decay Naked Basics Pallette. Use a light brown shade right in the crease of the eyelid. This technique can transform any boring eye into a statement within seconds!
A girl’s brows can be her best friend or her worst nightmare. For the day time, keep your brows natural with just a hint of the Benefit Brow Gel that sets them in place without caking on powder or pencils. Lastly, a little bit of mascara and some bronzer will do the trick to complete this makeup look!
The perfect smoky eye
Because social life is such an important aspect of college, especially Syracuse University, night makeup is essential. Makeup allows for self-expression, and it enhances your face for the pictures that will serve as memories forever. Afterall, whenever your smoky eye and winged eyeliner are on point, you know it’s going to be a great night.
To start, any full coverage foundation, like Maybelline's Fit Me! Concealer, will brighten bags under your eyes, and a pigmented contour palette will accentuate your features. Make your face stand out for the camera by emphasizing your cheek bones with Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer using an angled brush. Achieving the perfect Kim Kardashian duck face is possible with a great contour.
Eyeshadow colors like deep purples and browns are important for this first smoky eye look. Your blending brushes are even more essential, because they give the eye an airbrushed effect. For an easy, clean blending job, use a Tarte eyeshadow palette. Even adding the slightest bit of black into the outer crease turns any eye into a party.
Liquid eye liner is must when you wear eyeshadow. Flicking out the liner to make a slight wing brings some life to your eyes. Looking to grab the attention of someone special? A killer wing will definitely turn heads.
Lastly, the lip. A bold lip will make you stand out; it’s the finishing touch to your already stunning face. Night life is about socializing and using your mouth to talk. Since everyone will be staring at your lips, why not make them gorgeous and unique? Step out of your comfort zone and feel confident by using a new lip color, like a deep purple or brown!
The night time glam face
A second night-time look features a gold-bronzy eye. Sometimes you want to look your best and spend two hours applying makeup… because why not!? This look consists of a shimmery eye and tons of highlighter to get that glow. One of the best Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes is the Naked2 Palette. This palette has lots to offer, with shades of gold shimmers and numerous shades of brown. Layering these colors all over the lid and through the crease give any color eyes that extra pop.
Because shimmers tend to fall off the lid when applied, a rule of thumb is to start your makeup routine with your eyes. Using full coverage foundation afterward ensures that you will be able to clean away the excess shimmer.
Contouring for this look is just as important as bronzing the whole face. Go all out for a total bronzed look. Go in with your highlighter. The Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette by Becca Cosmetics contains two gorgeous highlighters and three great blushes.
Adding false lashes can do wonders for this look as well. What is glam without bold, confident eyes?
Makeup can be a major key role in any look. Having a few set routines in the back of your mind takes the stress of off getting ready and can save you time. And remember, rocking a bright lip is perfect for any Spring look.
