How to Elevate Your Style from College Girl to City Girl

Graduating is not only a new chapter in your life but an opportunity to welcome a new era of your style. Although I love this time in my life so much, I dream about the days when I move to NYC and incorporate more sophisticated pieces into my wardrobe. In college, we’re either getting dressed to go to class or to go to a party. Chances are you are currently reading this in bed, in your favorite set from Madhappy. There are ample opportunities to buy the cutest and latest loungewear because it is the uniform for class around here. That being said, we don’t have as many opportunities to dress up to go to a trendy bar. Who wants to wear a shirt from Revolve or Nordstrom, that cost you an arm and a leg, in a frat? Ladies, if you’re looking to revamp your wardrobe and make it more sophisticated and classy for work and play, keep reading—this one’s for you.
Heeled Boots:
To start off, everyone needs a pair of heeled boots. They’re super versatile, so don’t be afraid to find a nice pair and get your money's worth. You can dress them up to go to work or a night out with your best friends. Some of my favorite boots that I have on my ‘List to buy’ are the extra platform boots by Steve Madden. They are super cute for a night out and very helpful if you are looking for a few more inches. Alohas, a smaller brand that’s on the rise, has some super cute options. They make the most unique boots and, as a bonus, they are a completely sustainable brand.
A Crossbody Bag:
Every outfit needs a bag to complete the look. It is a great investment piece because it is something you can have for many years to come and wear almost every day. I have the Stella McCartney Fabella bag, which goes with almost all of my outfits and fits all my necessities inside. A nice cross-body bag would also make the best graduation gift!
A Trench Coat:
Hailey Bieber has done an amazing job paving the way for a new era of trench coats. A trench coat is a perfect way to put an outfit together, especially if you are living in a cold city like NYC or Boston. It can be worn throughout the fall and winter and can be dressed up or down. A perfect way to style an outfit with a trench is either with jeans and a basic top for a night out, or you could even pair it with your favorite workout set and a cute pair of sneakers for a more casual look.
