Your Guide to Depop Shopping

The best way to shop.

by SOFIA TASOLIDES ★ MARCH 22, 2022

I am a Depop addict. Over break, with countless amounts of hours spent doing nothing, I got sucked into the world that is Depop. I’ve tried vintage and thrift shopping before but got overwhelmed by the continuous racks of clothing. Depop is a curated shop for you and only you. You don’t have to spend hours looking for the perfect item, but rather just scroll for 30 seconds.

On Depop, you can sell your own items or purchase from other sellers on the app. There are definitely other apps that have similar features, but its Instagram-style interface is what makes it so popular amongst Gen Z. With some Depop experience under my belt, below find my favorite perks of the app as well as the best sellers to buy from. Happy shopping!

The Style Edit:

The style edit is truly what makes the app so amazing. It’s equivalent to the FYP on TikTok. It takes all of your past likes and puts together a collage of items that you would enjoy based on the hashtags on your past likes. Each day the style edit updates and new items appear for you to purchase.

In order to get the best style edit, I would suggest liking as many items as possible, all within your personal style, of course. I would start by looking at your friend’s accounts and look into their likes. Most users make their likes public, which allows anybody to view the pieces they like. Next, I would go to some of Depop’s best creators to find some amazing pieces.

Best Creators:

@rubylyn

Ruby is one of my favorite influencers. I discovered her on TikTok and became absolutely obsessed with her life and her style. After following her, I found out that she has a Depop account that she frequently posts new items on. Some are definitely on the pricier side, but they are usually very unique and unknown brands. The other items she sells are usually re-pops (re-posts of items that she purchased on Depop) or vintage items that she no longer wants. She has the perfect shop of curated pieces for everyone.

@remass

Although @remass is an international shop and shipping costs more, this shop has great pieces. Most of the pieces are vintage or thrifted. These types of curated vintage sellers make it so fun and easy to shop. She also makes her own clothing, which is what some shops on Depop also do. My favorite piece she makes is the sheer off-the-shoulder tops. I just ordered one and can’t wait until it comes in!

@internetgirl

This is one of the most popular sellers on the app. She has sold over 1 million dollars in clothing since she started. She has taken casual selling to the extreme and has professional photoshoots with various backdrops and models. She also has a wide array of thrifted items. Get to her account soon though—she sells out quickly!!

@vivid_nynties

This seller exclusively sells the 90s and Y2k sunglasses. You can buy 2 for $20 or buy 2 and get a third pair free. They are so cheap ($20 at most) and so stylish. I constantly find myself scrolling through this shop. It is the best way to get cute and cheap sunglasses. And, trust me, these aren’t the type of sunglasses you would find on Amazon—this seller has everything!

If you couldn’t tell already, I’m addicted to Depop. It is seriously the easiest, cheapest, and most sustainable way to shop. Try using some of my tricks, and search up my fav sellers. I promise you will find the cutest items to add to your wardrobe! Happy shopping!
