The 411 on Summer Going Out Looks
Spoiler: bra tops are socially acceptable again

Now that we are waxed, vaxxed, and ready to take on the world, the return of IRL nightlife is back. Since our closets have been filled with a never-ending mountain of sweatpants and our Friday and Saturday nights have only been Netflix movie marathons for a year, you might be feeling a little bit unprepared for the party season ahead of us. Thanks to IG, there is no lack of style inspiration, so whether it's bottomless brunch with the girls or a night out on the town Carrie Bradshaw style, we got you covered.
Cowgirl Boots
If you haven't already heard, cowgirl boots are THE boot of the summer. Whether you are pairing them with a mini dress or have them peeking out of your jeans, this ode to wild west is a perfect staple piece. Who said summer is only for flip-flops and wedges? Save money on the pedicure and instead invest in a sensible pair of cowgirl boots. If you’re feeling bold, try an accent color like pink or red (Ted Mosby is shaking).
Party Pants
If the mini dresses and stilettos aren't really your thing, look no further. Party pants are taking nightlife by STORM. Whether you're rocking bold prints or a cool silhouette, party pants are a staple for this summer. Transitioning straight from sweats to mini-dresses is definitely a struggle, but party pants are a SOLID in-between that bring a little bit of comfort to a night out, especially if you’re running around.
Mini Dresses and skirts
If you haven’t already noticed, the y2k trend continues into the summer. Thank GOD. As the temperature rises, so do the skirt and dress hems. As predicted, mini dresses and skirts are everywhere and can be paired with heels for a night out of your favorite sneakers for brunch. Did somebody say bar mitzvah season chic? Mini dresses leave plenty of room for accessorizing and make-up freedom, so don’t forget to get creative. Pair a hot mini with an eccentric purse and some hoop earrings for that influencer-meets-y2k look we’re all obsessing over.
Corset tops
This silhouette has been seen on many influencers and celebrities already. Don’t overthink it! Corset tops have made their grand return, and they could NOT be more flattering. Pair a corset top with your favorite pair of jeans (low-rise pairs well if you’re feeling extra bold!) and a pair of booties or wedges and you’re ready to take on the world. Corsets aren’t just undergarments anymore—they’re a life-changing going out essential.
Bra tops
We said what we said; ditch your shirt entirely. Just do it. Opt for an elevated bra as a top, because you CAN. Pair your bra top with matching pants or under a blazer for an effortless, subtly sexy look. We’re by no means encouraging you to wear your GAP kids training bra from 2012 out on the dance floor, but as we’re sure you’ve seen ALL over IG and TikTok, it is ~ officially ~ socially acceptable to wear a bra as a shirt. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
It’s time to live out your fashion dreams and fears. Whether you’re rocking a bra and cowboy boots or just a bolder nail than you’re used to, this is the summer of fashion risks. Embrace your wild side, because vaccinated girl summer is here.
