How to Fall in Love in 14 Days

With yourself, of course!

14 Days. That’s all it takes for you to fall completely and totally in love… at least with yourself. And what better time to start this challenge than on the first day of a new month! So, here’s a day-by-day guide on how you can cultivate self-love in only 2 weeks!

Day 1:

Reflect. Even if it’s only for five minutes before bed tonight, take those five minutes, sit with your eyes closed, and reflect on what you love the most about yourself and what you would like to improve. Reflect on the things about your life that make you happy. Also, reflect on the things that make you unhappy. Sometimes, sitting with your own thoughts is the best therapy. 

Day 2: 

Journal. Wake up today and write down everything you reflected on yesterday. Make two columns: one for the things you like and one for the things your dislike. Whether they are internal or external characteristics, write them down. Look at your columns. From everything in your dislike column, make a list of how and what you can change so that the column becomes empty. To create change in your life, you need to go out and change things. The best way to visualize what you need to do to begin the life you have always dreamed of living is to see it clearly right in front of you. Pick one and decide to make that change. This will help set an intention for your day.

Day 3: 

Organize! Your environment plays a huge role in your emotions. Having a clean and organized living space helps reduce stress and can make you feel more productive. If you want a more tranquil atmosphere, add spa-like aspects to your bedroom like plants, candles (shhh!), or aromatherapy oils. Now you can relax knowing you’re in a clean, peaceful space (imagine how well you will sleep tonight!).

Day 4: 

Workout! Working out releases dopamine which can increase your happiness and reduce levels of stress and anxiety. Even if it’s just for a quick 10 minutes, incorporate some movement into your day. No one has ever completed a workout and regretted it!

Day 5: 

Go to bed early! I know it’s a Saturday and you can’t imagine not being sh*t-faced at 4 AM, but imagine how amazing you will feel tomorrow. The FOMO may just be worth it. 

Day 6:

Do yoga! It’s a Sunday morning and you’re not hungover. What better way to start the day than with a quick morning yoga session. Our beloved EIC, Britney, swears by it as her favorite way to improve self-confidence!

Day 7:

Dance it out! Nothing reduces stress and gets you ready for the weekend like a fun dance party with your besties (or even by yourself!) Even if it’s just for 5 minutes, play your favorite songs and dance like you’re at the hottest NYC nightclub! Not only will you have a blast, but you will feel so much better mentally!

Day 8: 

Go for a walk! I know the weather is bad, but the outdoors is beautiful. If you want some company, take a friend with you. But I suggest going by yourself and just taking in everything around you. Another good idea is to listen to an inspiring podcast. That’s literally killing two mental health birds with one stone! 

Day 9: 

Read! Before bed, take 15 to 30 minutes and read a book, article, or magazine. Reading anything can reduce stress and improve your focus, memory, and communication skills. Reading also allows you to take time to yourself and remain present in the moment. Often, the mindlessness of TV gives your brain the space to wander.

Day 10: 

Dress to impress! We all know the saying that you feel your best when you look your best. Today, wear your favorite outfit and makeup look all day. BE the main character. You’ll feel your confidence sky-rocket.

Day 11: 

Watch a rom-com! Carve out time for yourself to finally sit down with some buttery popcorn and wine and watch that movie you keep putting off for a sweaty night at the same frat you go to every weekend. If you want to take the relaxation a step further, put on a face mask while you’re at it.

Day 12:

Eat dessert! Today is a day to treat yourself! You deserve it. Go out and get that sweet treat you typically don’t let yourself have and eat the WHOLE THING. Nothing is more satisfying than scarfing down a decadent dessert all by yourself.

Day 13:

Spoil yourself! Send yourself flowers and make sure to add a custom note! I promise you this is not a waste of money!

Day 14: 

IT’S VALENTINE'S DAY B*TCHES! Go on a date! It doesn’t necessarily have to be with a significant other, it can be with your best friend or group of friends! You have just spent the last two weeks embracing and loving yourself, which means you’re finally ready to share that love with others!
