The Ultimate End of Summer Playlist

Everyone’s going to want you on aux…

by JULIA SHORT ★ JULY 26, 2021

Summer is the perfect time to expand your scope of music by listening to new genres, artists, and collabs. And why is summer this enormous time for the music industry to flourish, you may ask? Because everyone is out of the house; beaches, clubs, house parties…you name it. They all better have some good ass music.

Being given the aux cord at a party or during a long drive has the same equivalence of being told you look amazing in an outfit. You feel like you're on top of the world. No one wants to go to a house party where the music is mainly pop hits from 2016 (2000s hits though? Say less). Therefore, when the clothes get skimpier, the weather gets hotter, and the nights seem wayyy longer, summer is the prime time to listen to the music blasting on a speaker at the beach.

Now, the aux. It’s always an issue of who gets to play their music, and honestly, 9 times out of 10 it's a hit or miss. You either get the friend who listens to EXPLICITLY rap music (who considers Aminé an underground artist), the one who only know songs off of the Billboard top 100, the one who will only listen to songs that mention beer and cowboy hats (explicit country music fans, please expand your scope), and the indie friend who attempts to gatekeep a pretty popular artists.

It’s in your best interest to have a playlist prepared AT ALL TIMES…because you never know when you’ll be asked to play whatever you got. With that being said, below is my ultimate summer 2021 playlist. With songs for every occasion, and where no genre of music goes unnoticed.

Obviously, not everyone has the same taste in music, but trust me when I say that this playlist will hit different on a long drive to the beach. This playlist encapsulates basically all the feelings that you might feel this summer while also making you feel kind of like the sh*t for being on aux. This is the perfect playlist for not only a hot girl summer, but everything that comes with it.
