My Top 5 TikTok Recipes

Trying a bunch of different recipes we found on the internet? Say less.

TikTok is extremely unpredictable--you never know which videos are going to pop up on your catered “for you page,” and that’s the fun. From funny videos to catchy dances, TikTok is one of the most popular platforms of this generation. During quarantine, TikTok recipes got their claim to fame. Things such as whipped coffee drinks and pasta three ways really started to give people a platform to post their tried and true home recipes.

But don’t get it twisted, these recipes aren’t your perfectly curated cooking channel formulas. These are real, homemade recipes made by regular people. They aren’t made to look fancy or difficult to cook...this is some -real good shit- no matter what it may look like at the end.

What many don’t know is that these recipes go way beyond “how to achieve the perfect chocolate chip cookie,” or “how to get the best sear on a steak using a grill.” Rather, recipes such as ramen lasagna and ice cream bread (literally what?) have risen to the front of recipe books and into the homes of people across the country. For those who want to learn more about these amazingly tried and true recipes (by yours truly), here are my top 5 favorite recipes that I found through the TikTok grapevine.

Gigi Hadid’s Spicy Vodka Pasta

Okay, I understand that this recipe might be a little old (as it’s been circling TikTok for a while now), but I promise you it is WORTH. THE. HYPE. As a pasta snob, I’ve always been super picky with my sauce. But this sauce is next to god tier. Mainly consisting of lots of parmesan, red pepper flakes, heavy cream, and tomato paste, this pasta dish is the perfect mix of spicy and creamy.

Pesto Eggs

As one of the more recent recipes that have been circling TikTok, pesto eggs are NOT to be slept on. At first, I was a bit skeptical of trying these. In the morning, I love myself some avocado toast with a fried egg right on top (with red pepper flakes and everything but the bagel seasoning of course), but mixing pesto with the fried egg gave me a weird vibe. However, I was proven wrong when I tried it for the first time. These two ingredients together on toasted sourdough bread mesh into a delicious breakfast that makes you want about 4 more.

Tortilla Fold Hack

As another recipe that has been circling the internet for quite some time now, this hack saves me about 15 minutes when making things in the kitchen. It is truly the hack I never knew I needed in my life. Consisting of one soft tortilla and the 4 ingredients of your choosing, all you need to do is fold over each corner until it becomes a triangle filled with all the goodness inside. Scrambled eggs, avocado, cheese, and salsa is the breakfast tortilla of my dreams.

Pasta Chips
As another very recent TikTok trend, I was also very skeptical of this trend. Pasta doesn’t seem like it should be made into a chip form, no matter how many spices and garnishes you may put on them before you throw them in your air fryer. As an Italian, it almost seems illegal. However, with the right sauce on the pasta before you ultimately fry them into the chips they were not meant to become, they are not that bad. Making them with freshly chopped tomatoes, pancetta, red pepper flakes, and *of course* Lots of parmesan is a recipe worth sharing.

Nature’s Cereal

Now this is the easiest recipe you will probably see on TikTok EVER. All that is needed are chopped strawberries, blueberries, pomegranate seeds, and coconut water and BAM you’ve got nature’s cereal. This low-calorie mixture is really high in fiber and is a fun way to increase your fruit intake, but it shouldn’t be used to replace a full meal. I actually really enjoyed eating this as a snack, and the coconut water definitely adds a nice touch. Overall, really fun, fruity, and an easy snack to have whenever.

Whatever you decide to try from this list, make sure you have fun with it. Maybe even add your own spin to the recipe to ~spice things up~. Who knows, maybe you’ll have the potential to become the next Gordon Ramsay with your personal spin on the dish.
