It’s Time to Talk About Olivia Jade... Again

Dw guys, Olivia Jade is alive and well.

Yes, you read that correctly. Olivia Jade has made her appearance—or shall we say... reappearance—on social media. Whether you love her or you hate her, it’s basically impossible to ignore her. If you don’t know who Olivia Jade is, she is the infamous “daughter of celebrity turned beauty YouTuber turned center of the ~scandal of the century~.”

Olivia Jade and her family (you might know her mom, Lori Loughlin, as Aunt Becky from “Full House”) were the center focus of  Operation Varsity Blues, a massive fraud scandal involving a trade-off of hundreds of thousands of dollars and fake athletic ability in exchange for admittance to the University of Southern California (USC). Operation Varsity Blues escalated so exponentially that Netflix has released a documentary following the lies and bribes behind this scandal.

But let’s step away from knit-picking Operation Varsity Blues and look at Olivia Jade’s “comeback.” After almost a year of being silent on the internet, Jade broke her silence on “Red Table Talk,” a web television show hosted by Willow Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Norris.

During her interview, Olivia spoke about white privilege, the college application process, and her desire to start giving back to a greater community. I hate to admit that I did feel, maybe, possibly, a LITTLE bit sympathetic after watching the interview... shocking, I know.

Since her debut on “Red Table Talk,” Olivia Jade has jumped back into the world of social media and has started posting YouTube videos again, but she appears to be trying out a different “lifestyle.”

Olivia seems to have moved on from her old “Luxury What I Got For Christmas” hauls and started posting daily vlogs that consist of her journaling and drinking…*gasp* BEER. WHO IS THIS B*TCH?!?

It’s important to note that Olivia does really seem to be making moral and lifestyle changes. She has begun donating a portion of her YouTube profits to charity and asks her followers for suggestions on small businesses to support, organizations to follow, and movements to learn about. Hmm... maybe having both of your parents sent to jail for a fraud scandal can really humble a gal.

It may sound like I’m hating on this girl, but to be completely honest, I cannot stop watching her new videos. Olivia Jade may not know a lot about college admissions, but she does know how to capture an audience. With her parents Lori Laughlin—recently released from prison—and Mossimo Giannulli—still incarcerated—it will definitely be a journey to see how Olivia continues to rebrand herself and her image. We’re totally here for the ride.
