The Tea on Call Her Daddy & Sofia with an F
We are unwell.

Saturdays may be for the boys, but we ladies know that Wednesdays are for “Call Her Daddy.” Back in 2018, co-hosts Alex Cooper and Sofia Franklyn released the popular podcast, “Call Her Daddy,” which gained its notoriety from what’s known as their iconic “female locker room talk.” Only four episodes in, the show was picked up by Dave Portnoy at Barstool and gained a loyal fanbase of (over TWO MILLION) people who looked to the girls for unfiltered, refreshing, totally badass hot takes and tips on female sexuality.
After two years and many attempted gluck-gluck 9000’s later, “Call Her Daddy” suddenly went dark, leaving fans left with nothing to do but speculate and pray that their beloved “Fathers” would return to the Podcast-verse again soon. So what exactly went down? What does the future look like for the women of “Call Her Daddy?”
Back in the spring, Dave Portnoy, “El Pres” of Barstool, released a tell-all episode of the show during which he explained everything that went down—and he didn’t hold back, either. In this episode, entitled “Daddy Speaks,” Portnoy went on to call the girls “unprofessional, disloyal, and greedy.” He then disclosed that there were many contract disputes that went on, and that he ultimately offered the girls a contract under which they would make $500,000 a year plus bonuses and various other motives that would guarantee almost a million dollars per year. While Alex, who had received a raise a while back for having done a majority of the editing and promotion for the show, was happy with this deal, Sofia was not.
According to Portnoy, Sofia’s decision was made, in part, by her boyfriend—famously known on the show as “Suitman.” Days later, Barstool released merch that was conspicuously embellished with “CANCEL SUITMAN.” Fans blame Suitman for tearing these co-hosts, roomies, and BFFs apart, however, it came out that the ladies had been feuding over other secrets behind the scenes for a while. Oh, the DRAMA.
When Alex Cooper returned to “Call Her Daddy,” launching what is now known as her “Single Father Era,” she touched on more vulnerable aspects of her life, which was new for those who tune in for her signature tips on not-so relationships. She briefly spoke on the “break up” with Sofia, and then dove into her personal life, touching on the way she is perceived based on her “Call Her Daddy” persona in addition to how she feels a constant pressure to be funny and have a hot, new sex tip with every episode. The show continues to be iconic, and although Cooper has proved that she’s more than capable of driving the ship on her own, she’s featured several high-profile guest stars—one of which is MILEY CYRUS. I mean, come on.
Sofia Franklyn recently released her “competing” podcast, “Sofia with an F” and hot take: despite prior discrepancies, maybe the media shouldn’t pit two talented women against each other? Just a thought. In the beginning of her first episode, Sofia called herself “Basic, greedy, lazy, submissive, weak-minded, unable to think for [her]self…” as a way of making fun of herself in addition to explaining her side of the story. She discusses everything she went through in addition to mentioning that she moved back home to Salt Lake City, Utah. Though Franklyn isn’t entirely sure of the direction she wants her new podcast to go, it seemed as though she was looking to break away from the single, broke, city gal vibe that she gave off with “Call Her Daddy” and began talking about the next chapter in a woman’s life.
The incredible thing about the digital age is that these media personalities take on a life of their own—creatives have the freedom to put out increasingly original and totally relatable content, and we wish both Alex and Sofia the best in their new endeavors. As a devout “Call Her Daddy” fan myself, I can’t wait to see what’s in store. BTW, Alex Cooper—if you’re looking for a new co-host, I’m your girl.
