If you’re a member of “Bachelor Nation,” you know it’s been a long time coming for the start of The Bachelorette Season 16, but the time has finally come!
In March, 39-year-old Clare Crawley was announced as this season’s bachelorette. Previously, she had appeared on The Bachelor, Bachelor in Paradise, and Bachelor Winter Games, and as a regular on the franchise, fans were eagerly awaiting the start of the season in late May. Unfortunately, the premiere was put on hold due to the coronavirus, leaving fans in months of anticipation. After roughly two weeks of filming, it came to fans’ attention that Clare would be replaced with Bachelor star Tayshia Adams mid-season. While we will have to tune in to watch what happens, rumor has it that Crawley fell for one of the men, which is why her time on the show came to an end. It’s no secret that this season will be filled with twists, turns, and a whole lot of drama and night one is no exception. Keep reading for our recap of the Season 16 premiere!
Limo Entrances
The Bachelor franchise is famous for their array of over-the-top limo entrances. Some of the episode’s standouts included Dale, Jason, Demar, and Ed.
Dale, Dale Dale. Fans went into the premiere wondering who Clare’s mystery man is, and it was ‘Clare’ after meeting Dale Moss, that he was the one. Clare was so struck by him during their first meeting that she said, “I feel like I just met my husband.” It’s no surprise that he also received the first impression rose!
Former pro football lineman, Jason, was another standout. I mean, come on—anyone who shows up with a fake pregnant belly gets major props, and his line, "I'm here to prove to you that I'm willing to hold the weight of this relationship," was A+. If Clare doesn’t want him, we’ll take him!
Demar was another crowd favorite who came in with swag, wit, and a full skydiving ensemble. What really made him memorable was when he told Clare, “I already fell for you.” Punny, no?!
Last but not least among the standouts is Ed. He took a witty approach to his entrance and tried to make light out of the dark situation that is COVID-19. He went all out, literally rolling over to Clare in a ginormous plastic Zorb ball saying, “I heard your journey was taking place in a bubble, so I wanted to come prepared for you.” Nice work, Ed!
As the last limo entrances trickled in, Clare began mingling with some of the men. Blake Moynes joined Dale as a standout, as it was revealed that he reached out to Clare during quarantine before filming had begun. While this is traditionally a violation of the show rules, Blake received major props from Clare. “You risked not coming on here and putting that on the line,” Clare said. “It meant everything to me.”
Later on, drama started to heat up. Yosef accused Tyler C. of sliding into women’s DMs in his hometown, and the confrontation ultimately led to them both sitting down with Clare to hash it out, and it ended up costing Tyler C. a rose.
This is only the beginning, with much more juicy drama to come! The Bachelorette airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. so stay tuned for what’s next!
