5 Ways to Cure a Hangover

Please make it stop.

Unfortunately, there's no way around it. If you go to college, hangovers are inevitable. We’ve all been through it: waking up with a pounding headache, dry mouth and aching body.

No matter how gross we feel in the moment, it is 100 percent not going to stop us from going out and doing the same thing all over again the next night. Although there is no sidestepping the impending hangover, there are remedies to make them a little more bearable.

1. Drink water...LOTS of water

If you have ever experienced the agony of a hangover, you know dehydration is one of the most obvious side effects. Waking up with cotton mouth and horrendous morning breath is unavoidable. Your only solution is to chug as many water bottles as possible.

2. Sweat it out

Getting out of bed and dragging yourself to the gym is probably the last thing you want to do when your entire body feels like it’s falling apart. But, try to muster up whatever energy you have left from dancing the night away and get yourself to the gym.

You will feel like a fresher, healthier, “less wreck” version of yourself. Sweating out the remnants of last night’s disaster will definitely help lessen the pain of your hangover.

3. Take a nap, or five

Naps are basically the cure for, well, everything. Whether you are hungover, sick or 100 other things in between, naps have the power to make life a lot easier to deal with.

Considering the fact that you’re probably beyond hungover as you read this, a good long nap might just be the thing you need. So lay your head down and let the nap do the rest.

4. Take a Shower

What were you up to last night? Out partying at a hot and sweaty frat party with hundreds of people breathing down your neck? You probably don’t smell or look your best this morning. So, take nice hot shower to rinse off all the makeup you forgot to remove the night before. It will make you feel 100 times better.

5. Avoid the unhealthy cravings

Even though your mind is racing with thoughts of getting some cinnamon rolls, chocolate chip pancakes and at least 7 pieces of bacon, try to fight the temptation. Instead, go into any dining hall on campus and grab yourself a plate of fruit, a piece of toast or even some scrambled eggs. Not only are you dodging the “freshman 15,” but it’s also free!

As students, we all know hangovers are just another part of the college experience. Although they definitely are not something we look forward to, hangovers are inescapable. The only thing we can do is to try and make them tolerable.
