It’s the middle of the week and you want to grab a healthy lunch before your next class. You’re stressing about eating well, finals are around the corner and the vegetarian section of the dining hall just isn’t cutting it. You pretty much give up on having a healthy and yummy meal until you stumble upon Marshall Square Mall, and there it is: Strong Hearts on the Hill!
Here are five stellar menu items for your Strong Hearts order.
1. BLT
Yes! Vegans can eat bacon too—tempeh bacon. This BLT wrap or sandwich is perfect for the bacon-loving girl who is looking for some cleaner protein options. The tempeh is tailored so well to mimic real bacon that you won’t even know you’re eating plants.
2. Mexican Quinoa
Like Chipotle, but better. Coming as either a wrap or a salad, this meal hits the spot for Mexican food cravings. The wrap is a perfect light meal for on-the-go. Bonus: you’ll feel like you’re eating a burrito!
3. Cheddar Bacon Chicken Ranch Sandwich
We know—the name sounds like the farthest thing from vegan possible, but the tempeh bacon is back and better than ever. Not only does this sandwich taste just like fried chicken and bacon, but it is topped with yummy melted vegan cheese. The perfect comfort food for a plant-based girl.
4. Chicken Wings
That’s right, there are wings for vegans too. Covered in their buffalo and BBQ sauce, with a side of vegan ranch dressing, these wings are the perfect alternative to standard chicken wings.
5. Milkshakes
Even in the middle of Syracuse winter, there’s never a bad time for a milkshake. You absolutely cannot leave Strong Hearts without getting one of their shakes. With over 20 flavors with fun nicknames, there is a shake for everybody. It is the ideal sweet treat because if your milkshake is made out of fruits, nuts and veggies, then it’s practically a salad…right?
Pictured is the “Fred Hampton” milkshake, which is their chocolate oreo flavor. Along with this delicious flavor there is the “Earth Crisis,” which is chocolate-peanut butter, “Harriet Tubman,” which is maple-vanilla-oreo, “Ernie Davis,” which is butterfinger, and many, MANY more. All of them are dairy-free and made with nut milks and agaves. If you’re in a fruitier mood, they have smoothies too!
Whether you follow a vegan diet or not, Strong Hearts is certainly a restaurant to cross off your Syracuse to-do list. The menu is so diverse with their options and these are just our five faves!
