Listen up Ladies: Yellow is Here to Stay!

It’s time to open your eyes to fashion's latest color trend. Titled color of the year by KitchenAid, butter yellow is booming in popularity and has been coloring our social feeds nonstop — whether it's Emi Jay claw clips, Peppermayo’s new dress collection or (my personal favorite) Steve Madden sneakers in Optimus Yellow Multi.

In the height of this color craze, Rihanna, Aubrey Plaza, Sabrina Carpenter, Katie Holmes, Eva Longoria and Timothée Chalamet have all stepped out in butter yellow dresses and suits at the Emmys, Oscars and other high profile events.

But, the color really took off after Selena Gomez’s manicurist, Tom Bachik, posted an Instagram photo, flaunting her fresh butter yellow manicure back in March of 2024. This dreamy nail look has circulated Instagram and TikTok since, and I wouldn't be surprised if these nails started being referred to as the “Selena Gomez nails” — similar to how the glazed donut manicure became the “Hailey Bieber nails.”

Pastels in the summer have always been my go-to palette. In previous summers, I’ve steered more towards light blues and pinks, so adding in yellow has allowed me to incorporate another color into my wardrobe, while adding some freshness to my sometimes repetitive summer fits. Plus, butter yellow blends perfectly with the light, airy shades everyone loves for summer.
