Don’t want to twin with your friends while watching the fireworks? We all know the Ralph Lauren or Brandy Melville American Flag sweater is overdone. From a beach day to a backyard barbeque, here is how to look cool, and not tacky, while celebrating America’s best holiday.
Gingham and Polka Dots
The 4th of July is a perfect way to incorporate trending prints of the summer. Gingham, the pattern taking over Pinterest, is an instant reminder of summer and picnics or backyard fun. Edikted’s Lanna Gingham Elastic Scrunch Top or the Charmaine Open Back Gingham Top can be matched with a denim skirt or their Gingham Scrunch Shorts. Bella Venice never misses; The Foster Dress comes in red and blue. And if you want a little less gingham, their May Tank and Skirt can become your next summer staple. Similarly, polka dots are so girly. For a cute sundress, we can look at Realisation Par, Princess Polly, or Bella Venice.
Denim and Denim and Denim and Denim
The true American religion… denim. Something you already have in your closet, you can style denim shorts, denim skirts, or your favorite pair of jeans with any top! You could also style a bikini top with overalls. You can also never go wrong with a denim set or dress. I love Lioness and all their denim styles, my personal favorite is the Countryside Top with the matching Miracle Mini Skirt. Accessories-wise, Jaded London’s Rock Revival Cap is so Paris Hilton.
Bikinis
One of my favorite bikini brands, Dipped in Blue Bikinis, has a reversible bikini set that is a perfect 4th of July bikini. You can even pair them with the Cutie Booty Doll Shorts that match for some coverage. Of course, Frankies Bikini is reliable for gorgeous bikinis of many colors, styles, and designs. The Djerf Avenue and Sweet Shop collections have super cute ideas. We are also loving swim skirt bikini bottoms this summer like the Lu Striped Swim Skirt which could be cute styled with shorts that have the ruffles folded over.
Handover Boxers
The iconic brand Handover has such exclusive designs. Any pair of their Ex-Boyfriend boxers sporting the colors of red, white, or blue, can be paired with a basic tank top or bikini top and you will be the cool girl of the day. With this look, you can have fun accessorizing with chunky jewelry, sunglasses, or colorful sneakers.
Red, White, and Blue Alternative
If you’re looking for more of a western look this 4th of July, I recommend cow print. This would be something unique and a new way to incorporate that American feel. I wore the Zara Satin Effect Dress to a country concert and it got so many compliments, especially paired with cowboy boots. If you want a more subtle incorporation, Jaded London’s Kenda Whipstitch Cow Belt is such a statement piece.
Shoes
Pairing the right shoe to your outfit is very important. This is the perfect time to show off all your colorful sneakers. If you’re an Adidas, Alohas, or Dolce Vita girl, the pop of color on your feet will be perfect. Speaking of Dolce Vita, I just ordered the Laila Heels in Light Natural Raffia and the wicker material would just be perfect with a sundress. And of course, I will take any excuse to wear cowboy boots.
