We are officially in our summer season of fashion, and there is no better time to discuss our summer must-haves. When building your summer wardrobe, it is important to note that fashion does not come at the expense of spending loads of money. Thus, thrifting is a must, not only when looking out for your savings account, but also for finding one of a kind pieces. Do not be discouraged at the thought of curating a new wardrobe, because these pieces will leave you with unique outfits and savings for the upcoming semester.

Button Downs

On the topic of thrifting, I have found my most loved button downs at thrift stores. I love adding button downs to elevate a basic outfit. Take for instance, pairing a button down with a mini skirt and tube top, or with a bikini and linen pants to create that Sophia Richie vibe for your beach day. This versatile, yet easy to find, item will be a necessity in your closet this summer.

Boxer Shorts

These shorts have taken over my Pinterest feed, and I am honestly not complaining. So far, this summer's fashion has been giving a relaxed, “not trying too hard” attitude, and we are here for it. Blue and white boxer shorts paired with a white tank and some statement sneakers takes very little time to pick out, yet creates a put together look when running errands or grabbing coffee. Some of our favorites include the Princess Polly Cobain Shorts in blue stripe, the Edikted Pin Stripe Boxer Shorts in pink,  and the Beck & Beverly Plaid Boxer Shorts in blue. These are just some examples for inspiration, as you can't go wrong with any shorts of this style for the summer.

Statement Shoes

Adding a fun statement shoe can elevate your look from basic to effortlessly chic. In addition to boxer shorts, Sex in the City style has been all over my Pinterest feed this summer: The on-trend look from top to bottom is pulled together with the perfect shoe. Currently, I am loving kitten heels, specifically a bold red for internship attire or dinner with the girls. My hyperfixation shoe that fits this vibe seamlessly is the Steve Madden LIANA WINE PATENT kitten heel.

Accessories

Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize! Because we should all be the girls that get asked where their jewelry is from (an elite compliment). Hand chains have been everywhere, and although they can seem a bit overdone, a delicate hand chain is the perfect accessory to elevate your jewelry. The one that has been sitting in my cart for a week now is the BELLADAR Olivia Hand Chain. Although on the pricier side, I personally have not seen many hand chains with the same timeless and dainty style as this one. On another note, there are options varying from five to eight dollars on EVRY Jewels that can be seen to resemble the hand chains from high-end jewelry companies. Aside from jewelry, scarves have been my obsession this summer. Coachella was the blueprint for this trend, and I am forever thankful. I have found my favorite  scarves at thrift stores for as little as three dollars. Scarves are yet again another accessory that can change the feel of your entire outfit, whether you are adding it to your beach day look or to a little city trip with your best friends.

This summer's style has been enforcing the effortlessly on-trend vibe, placing less emphasis on being “put together” and rather pushing people to dress how they feel the most comfortable and confident. Embracing these summer's trends with open arms will prove to be fun, especially as a prep for the future abroad wardrobe we are drooling over. Trying new styles can seem intimidating, both socially and financially, but just remember that a good two hours in your nearest Goodwill, and a pep talk from your girls group chat, can have you curating these new styles easily.
