Your Guide for Elevating Your Fall Wardrobe

Fall into this season’s style.

Fall can be a tricky season to style. It's too cold for summer clothes, but too warm for winter outfits. This guide will help you navigate those challenges, while ensuring you stay trendy and chic.

Patterns and Styles

There are so many fun patterns and styles to explore this fall, with my favorite being dark-wash denim. The thought of finally getting to style dark-wash denim jeans has been helping me through this seasonal transition. Embracing timeless denim, dark-wash jeans are the epitome of autumn. If you're feeling extra stylish, dark-wash jeans with studs add the perfect fall touch.

Now that we have our base paint, let’s talk about sweaters. Sweaters are the most practical tops to wear during the fall, and there are many different kinds. This fall, I’ve been obsessed with how off-the-shoulder sweaters look—they're cozy yet fashionable. Even though you're mostly covered up, the little pop of the shoulder adds a subtle, sexy touch that will boost your confidence.

If you think it's a little chilly to have any skin out, don’t fear! Sweaters of all styles and patterns are just as great. Stripes can definitely be an acquired taste, but this fall, striped sweaters are the best way to elevate your basic look. Whether you're pairing your stripes with slippers or heels, you'll look festive for every event this autumn. You can never go wrong with a striped sweater from Brandy Melville. They’re affordable, cute and of great quality; check out the v-neck baggy ones.

Jackets

While you may want to stick to your cardigans and lightweight jackets, it’s time to store those away and invest in a warmer coat. This fall, we’re staying cozy with big bomber jackets, long trench coats and fur coats. Bomber jackets are perfect for layering over a long-sleeve or sweatshirt, adding both warmth and a touch of edge to your outfits. For affordable bomber jackets, Depop is a great option, offering a high chance of finding unique vintage pieces. If secondhand shopping isn’t your speed, I recommend checking out Ralph Lauren, Old Navy, Revolve, or Cotton On for some alternatives.

Now that we have our everyday jackets covered, what should we wear for a night out or a fancy dinner? My go-to answer will always be a long trench coat. The idea of a trench coat might seem intimidating, but I truly believe a long, warm trench coat – especially the fuzzy ones rather than the waterproof styles –  is the perfect way to keep a dressy outfit looking elegant. Aritzia offers high-quality coats with a wide range of colors that can be styled in various ways. Another great option with a variety of trench coats is Gap. Now that the cheetah print trend is winding down, it’s time to turn it up a notch and bring back faux-fur coats. A few of my top picks for faux-fur coats are from Anthropologie, Free People and Urban Outfitters

Accessories

The must-have fall accessory this year is a woven bag. While we all know and love Bottega Veneta's signature woven Intrecciato pattern, not everyone loves the price tag. Two of my favorite affordable woven bags that give off a classy, expensive vibe are from Target and Anthropologie

Both bags are of great quality and come in a variety of colors. My personal favorite for fall is a shade of brown, as it's versatile and complements other autumnal tones. When pairing brown and cream hues, opt for matching chunky gold pieces. With so many layers on, the chances of people noticing your necklace or bracelets are lower, so I always recommend opting for chunky gold hoops.

Now that you have a general idea of the best pieces to style for this fall, it's time to get creative while still embracing your unique style and the cozy spirit of the season. Don’t let the weather transition intimidate you; fashion thrives even through wind and falling leaves.
