Juice Jam Outfit Inspiration

A guide to throwing together the perfect concert outfit.

by CARA STEVES ★ SEPTEMBER 15, 2022

It’s already time for Juice Jam, arguably one of the most chaotic and fun events of the semester. This year is stacking up to radiate that same energy with performances by Yung Gravy, Flo Milli, T-Pain, and Doechii. Whether you’re just going to take pictures and trick your friends at other schools into thinking you’re at a full-blown music festival, or you’re planning on being in the front row, here are some outfit ideas that will make Yung Gravy take notice, no matter how deep in the mosh pit you find yourself.

Mini. Skirts.

Juice Jam always seems to mark the last few days of summer at Syracuse, which means that getting the last wear out of any favorite summer pieces will be an easy way to put together a fun concert outfit. It’s no secret that miniskirts have been a quintessential piece of Summer 2022 and will certainly carry into the fall trend cycle. A fun mini skirt, whether it’s sequined, cargo, or denim, can be paired with any simple top and look incredible. Opt for a sequined skirt like the Tiktok trending Danielle Guizio miniskirt (or a dupe) for a more original festival look. If your vibe is a simple and off-duty Bella Hadid, go for a cargo-style miniskirt with a statement belt (easily thriftable). Either option can be customized with a simple tank or baby tee, depending on the level of extra you want to exude.

Accessories

Nothing screams festival or concert like a bold accessory or unique hairstyle. The weather forecast for this year looks sunny, which makes sunglasses a practical yet chic option to elevate any outfit. Chunky sunglasses (also easily thriftable) can be useful if you’re looking to avoid the faciness of the crowd or radiate a mysterious aura in order for the artists to notice you.

Juice Jam is also the perfect opportunity to attempt a new hairstyle. Take a break from the classic Syracuse-slick and try a new braid, or throw on a patterned bandana. Chunky hair clips are also statement pieces that, when matched to jewelry, can take an outfit to the next level.

Mix & Match

No matter how hard you try to convince yourself you’re going “for the music,” we all know that sometimes it’s also about the photo-ops. Coordinating colors and outfit vibes with your friend group can make for incredible photos, and will definitely turn a few heads. Though it’s fun to stand out individually, matching with your friends can add a perfect playful balance that is needed for a romp through the fields of South Campus.

When in Doubt, Matching Set it out

Rather than rummage through your closet for a crazy, show-stopping outfit, it’s important to remember that sometimes, simplicity is key for looking put together at any event. Matching sets are the easiest route to take for any concert or festival occasion because you can color-match the artists’ vibes. For Juice Jam, you may opt for something loud and brightly colored. But, if neutrals are more your thing, put your own spin on a Syracuse darty-inspired look and go for a matching top and trouser combination.

Don’t forget that the most important aspect of any killer outfit for this weekend is confidence. The more fun the piece is, the better, and there are truly no rules for how spunky an outfit can be. This may be one of the last times to step out before the Syracuse cold ruins our fashion moments-don’t waste it!
