Trend Alert: Parisian Chic is Back Again

Goodbye, Scandinavia. Hello, Paris.

by REBECCA CARR ★ APRIL 21, 2022

Fashion is always being recycled throughout the years whether we are in the ’90s, colorful bold Y2K, or basic minimalist. Scandinavian fashion has been the rage this past year with bold and comfortable basics.  Scandinavian and French fashion is always being recycled into our wardrobes whether we realize it or not. Whether it’s a bold blazer or an airy and loose button-down, both styles are already in our closet and you’re on trend without even knowing! Scandinavian fashion is a great fit for the winter as it is dark, simple, bold, and can be very refreshing in the early summer with loose basics. But French fashion tends to reappear in the summer and fall as it is effortless, loose, and frivolous as bold statement pieces add spice to your overall look. We are continuing to love minimalist style, but now it is time to add a fun and flirty side that French style brings.

We can’t help but admit Matilda Djerf is the queen of Scandinavian fashion and dreamy hair, but there are also other influencers that also represent the Scandinavian look effortlessly. One influencer who you may not have heard of yet is Maren Schia. If you’re looking for a spiced-up version of Matilda Djerf’s wardrobe, Maren Schia is your go-to girl. Featuring the same business casual professionalism, Maren’s style comes with a twist of vibrant colors and exciting patterns. Some of her staple pieces include bold colors with a classic black blazer or minimalist top for a pristine finish. (Petition to make business casual fun again starts here.)

On another note, French fashion features the relaxed yet frivolous flare that we all love as we start to let loose in the warm weather. Camille Rowe (yes the one Harry Styles wrote about) is the epitome of French fashion. Rowe has a cool, relaxed, and effortless sense of style that is easy and comfortable for the summer heat. French fashion is fun and flirty with loose blouses, short shorts, and bold features adding like a red lip or big sunglasses to hide the events from the night before.

Hannah Stefansson, Instagram influencer and new mom, also perfectly emulates French fashion in her current style and maternity looks. Hannah’s style includes lots of chic form-fitting foundational pieces with loose pieces added on top in order to create a cute yet comfy look. In her “Preggo Looks” highlights on her Instagram she includes lots of loose and colorful button-downs, flare pants, and fun and flirty sundresses.

Scandinavian fashion has been well-loved and will definitely make a comeback in the cycle of fashion, but now we have to share the love with the French and flirty style that is coming back in. We still love the bold business casual look that has been trending, but now it is coming with a twist with the fun vibrancy and mix of prints.
