The Julia Fox Effect
She was Josh Safdie’s muse in Uncut *Jahms,* Kanye West’s rebound, and now she’s queen of the smokey eye.

Did anyone else have no clue who Julia Fox was before she started “dating” Kanye, or was that just me? Post Kanye breakup, Julia has taken the makeup and fashion industry by storm with help from Pat Mcgrath, Daniel Kolaric, and Donatella. Her infamous raccoon eyes are now seen broadcasted all over different runways around the world.
Although, I do have to call her out on one small fashion detail. She was not the first person to cut the top off of her jeans and wear it as a top. As much as she pulls off this look, Mariah Carey did it first back in her 1999 music video for her song “Heartbreaker.”
The Julia Fox Effect is real. How did she somehow skyrocket into fame? Was it Kanye or are these her personal fashion favorites that she decided to pull out? Of course, she mentioned in her Call Her Daddy interview that she was, in fact, Kanye’s new muse. Now it seems she is not only his muse but the world’s muse. Her high fashion smokey eyes may not be casual enough for streetwear, but they’ve made a statement on the runway.
In Versace’s most recent fashion show, the models were seen debuting The Julia Fox effect. The smokey eyes with the intensely straightened hair were an immediate grab for attention. Pat McGrath, the lead makeup artist for this runway, said that this new makeup technique represents, “the new powerful, strong Versace woman.” McGrath is anticipating a smokey spring. This exaggerated fox eye symbolizes power, the boldness represents confidence. Although this makeup trend was originally Kanye West’s idea, Fox still wears her smokey eyes with pride.
I don’t personally know anyone partaking in this specific trend, nor will I be partaking in it, but I think it’s an interesting concept. From Call Her Daddy to sitting front row at the Versace Fashion Show, Fox made a name for herself and she will always be Josh Safdie’s muse for Uncut Jahms.
