Scarlett Johansson’s New Skin-Care Line

“The white T-shirt of skin care.”

Nowadays, it is no shock when celebrities release skincare, makeup, and hair products. The question is: should we trust their products and why? Well, one perspective is that they are constantly used as guinea pigs for upcoming products and campaigns, so they know what works for their skin and why. I always wonder about celebrity beauty secrets and now we get some insight.

Scarlett Johansson has been in the industry for years, but she has just recently crossed over to the skincare industry. Her new skincare line is set to be released in March of 2022, and I could not be more excited. There is very little information about her skincare line, other than the fact that it is clean.

In an exclusive interview with Allure, she said "I created this brand to elevate clean, essential skin care. This will be a brand for everyone who wants their skin to look its best with minimal effort." As a founder and chairman, Johansson is set on changing the stigma attached to clean beauty. Scarlett’s new skincare brand is called The Outset; it consists of 6 products.

The line consists of a Firming Vegan Collagen Prep Serum, Botanical Lip Rescue Treatment, Gentle Micellar Antioxidant Cleanser, Nourishing Squalane Daily Moisturizer, Restorative Niacinamide Night Cream, and a Smoothing Vitamin C Eye and Expression Lines Cream. Wow. Who wouldn’t be excited about that?

Let’s talk about expectations for this line. Obviously, skincare is crucial, but I myself will admit, sometimes I just forget to do it. Especially after a night out, the time you face needs skincare most, I will just go to sleep with my makeup on. Personally, I am most intrigued by her Restorative Niacinamide Night Cream. Niacinamide is known to reduce inflammation and ease redness while minimizing the appearance of pores. This overnight treatment is amazing for a night out. All of these products together retail for under $55; which is amazing for a celebrity skincare line. Most celebrities amp up the prices just for the name, but Scarlett kept it to a budget. Her father is a Scandinavian architect who helped her come up with a minimalistic design; Ceylon blue letters on a recyclable glass bottle attached to bio-resin sugarcane tubes.

As a mother of two, Scarlett lives by the idea that skincare should be simple. So is this launch meant for college students or millennials? Probably not. But, that doesn’t mean I am not more than excited to try it.
