Born To Wear Bostons… How To Style Yours This Fall

The must-have footwear of the season.

I was waiting for the elevator yesterday and a girl turned to me, looked down at my Soft Footbed Suede Leather Dark Gray Birkenstock Bostons, and asked if they were worth it. I looked at her and said one word: “Yes.” 

Birkenstock Bostons are the shoe of the fall and they are nearly impossible to find. They are sold out of almost every color and size on the Birkenstock website. The store in Soho was completely sold out of the taupe color on Friday. Depop and Poshmark sellers are listing the shoes for almost double their retail value. If you type “Birkenstock Bostons” into the search bar on Tiktok, videos will flood your screen with “Unbox my Bostons with me” and “Birkenstock Boston try-on” videos. 

The Birkenstock shoes have always been popular, in large part because of their simplicity and comfort, but this season they are definitely having their moment. The infamous shoe has been seen on Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Emma Chamberlin, and Kaia Gerber. Let’s talk about how to style them. 

One of the best things about Bostons (besides how comfortable they are) is how you can dress them up or down. Running late to class? Throw on a pair of flare or loose sweatpants and a pair of Bostons and you will look effortlessly cool and put together. If you’re going out to dinner dress them up with a pair of boyfriend jeans and a cable knit sweater for a Pinterest-worthy Copenhagen look. 

Another one of my favorite ways to wear Bostons is with socks. I think they look so cool with a pair of leggings with socks over them. It gives that kind of effortless, cool girl, going to the gym kind of vibe. Kaia has this look down to a T. 

Right now there are very few sizes left on the Birkenstock website. The possibilities are endless with Bostons, between suede, leather, wool, or even suede leather with fur lining just in time for winter!
