Who said dressing comfy can’t be stylish? This season’s summer loungewear trend is the ultimate transition from quarantine comfy to summer chic. It’s no secret that summer 2021 is serving up some hot new looks from different textures, to prints, to playing with lengths. Don’t know where to start? We got you.
PILLOW SLIDES
Introduced by TikTok legend Tinx (@itsmetinx), pillow slides are a staple that we don’t see going away anytime soon. Not only are they super fashionable, but they also go with everything. Not to mention they’re affordable, and def more comfortable than your traditional summer sandal or wedge. Pillow slides are another example of how TikTok has taken over the fashion industry, as the shoe was made popular from the platform.
TERRY CLOTH
Terry Cloth is everywhere this summer. Who knew we were revolutionizing summer fashion at sleep away camp in 2011?! Whether in either a bikini or a set, terry cloth is definitely hot right now. It’s great to wear to the beach for a towel effect, but they’re super versatile and can be worn anywhere. Pastel terry cloth shorts are my personal fave. A cute terry cloth matching shorts and crop top are basically the 2021 version of a Juicy jumpsuit. Paris Hilton would be proud.
SWEAT SHORTS
Sweat shorts are back and better than ever. Pair these with a matching crewneck, cropped white tank, or even a bralette. My favorite way to style these is with a white cut-off tank top, huge sunglasses, slides, and either a white button-down or the matching crew neck draped around your shoulders. Get on this trend ASAP!
SLIPPERS AND MULES
Along with slides, slippers are back in for the summer. Something about slipping on a pair of shoes without socks and pairing them with your cutest outfit is effortlessly chic. They’re super convenient and reminiscent of our UGG slippers...but make it chic. According to Kristen Nichols at whowharwear.com, “Everything from furry logo slides at Balenciaga to knotted leather shoes at Rosetta Getty, there will be plenty of cool designs to add to your closet.”
BIKE ROMPERS
This summer marks the intro of the ever-sexy bike romper. Along with the biker short sets that have taken the world by storm, these bike rompers are so adorable and fun. You can explore different patterns and cutouts, or obv just stick to a basic black. Pair these with a trucker hat, colorful fanny pack, and sneakers and you're good to go!
