Using Pinterest As Your Personal Stylist

The images that create the look for you.

Everyone wishes they could have a personal stylist to dress them in the morning, but as busy college students, it’s often difficult to dress in anything other than sweatpants. Fortunately, however, everyone can access their own unique ‘personal stylist’ with just a few taps on their phone or computer.

Pinterest, a social media platform bursting with fashion inspiration, is the perfect place to start! Here are some classic searches we believe will help you create looks for any outing.

Search by Seasons and Weather

Sometimes the look you need depends on the weather of the day, and Pinterest understands this. Searches like “fall outfit” or “outfit for a cold, rainy day” will bring up hundreds of looks, many of which can be recreated with items already in your closet. A popular trend this season is to pair rain boots with dresses! Check out this look we found by Camille Charrière by searching “dress with rain boots.”

Search by Items You Already Own

Now let’s say there’s a certain item of clothing in your closet that you know you want to wear, but you don’t know what to pair it with or how to pull it off. Pinterest can help with this too! Type in the item or accessory plus “outfits” and you’ll be sure to find hundreds of options. This fall, try searching for flannels, white sweaters, and gold jewelry! Biker shorts are another wardrobe staple that can be very hard to pull off, but Hailey Bieber makes it look like a piece of cake. Check out Pinterest for ideas on how to style your own pair!

Search by Trends

We’ve all seen the influencers on Instagram who seem to nail every new trend the moment it appears. From monochrome outfits, to layering gold necklaces, to making men’s clothes look feminine, they can do no wrong. By now, you already know the drill so start searching and recreating your favorite looks! Don’t be afraid to add your own personal touches to finish off the outfit. One influencer frequently found on Pinterest is fashion designer Danielle Bernstein, who does an amazing job creating outfits that show how women can rock menswear.
