How to Keep Summer Essentials in Your Fall Wardrobe

Just because the season changes doesn't mean your closet has to.

As the leaves start to fall and the air begins to chill, you know it’s officially time to let go of your summer clothes. But if you’re not quite ready to put your skirts and shorts away, you definitely don’t have to. The transition from summer to fall is the perfect opportunity to grab some layers, and mix up your seasonal wardrobe. By combining summery tube tops, dresses and shorts with some of your favorite fall finds, you will have an effortless transition into the new season.

Here is some inspiration to look super trendy during this transition period:

1.     Leather weather

Tube tops were a huge trend this summer and believe it or not, they can be just as practical in the fall. Pair a tube top with a lightweight leather jacket and cropped printed pants. To create an entirely new outfit with your tube top, you can layer it over a long sleeved crew neck and a pair it with ripped jeans.

2.     Dress it up

There’s no need to shiver while wearing a dress this season. Slip on a simple, summery dress over a sheer top for a classic and girly look. On colder days, throw on tights and a denim jacket for extra warmth. Wear this outfit to a dinner date or a night out with friends, and you will look trendy while still feeling super comfortable.

3.     Short and sweet

Stay warm with a cute and cozy knit sweater paired with your favorite pair of denim shorts. Instead of wearing flip-flops or sandals like you would in the summer, you can wear your shorts with edgy seasonal boots. Shoes with studded detailing are super popular this fall, and they transform any simple outfit into an eye-catcher.

4.     Rocker chic

Transition into the colder months with darker colored pieces layered underneath a cool embroidered denim jacket. Embroidery is a huge fall trend, because it adds a twist to basic pieces. Later in the season, try replacing the tube top with a fitted turtleneck and some fishnets. Complete these looks with a pair of oversized sunglasses and you’re ready to power through the day.

5.     Keeping it casual

It’s never too chilly to wear a skirt! Throw on a pair of over-the-knee socks to keep your legs warm. Pair a denim skirt with a graphic tee to show off your fun and casual style. On colder days, don’t be afraid to throw on a flannel or cardigan for an extra layer.

As you peer into your closet thinking you have nothing to wear for the upcoming season, don’t sweat it. Use layers, and wear your favorite summer pieces in a whole new way. Mixing and matching seasonal favorites from the summer and fall can make the transition into chilly weather a little less stressful.

Layers can be peeled off if the air heats up, and added when it cools down. Whether you’re off to class, hanging with friends or heading out for the night, these fall looks won’t disappoint!
