Weed and Women: The Duality Behind Dazed

Redefining what a dispensary looks like in a male-dominated industry.

Dazed isn’t just a dispensary—it's a livelihood. The kind of place you hear about before you ever even step inside, passed between friends like a recommendation that you have to try. Their convenient location right on Marshall Street, it makes it so easy to satisfy your every cannabis need. Behind the low-lit neon aesthetic and campus buzz, there’s an even deeper truth. Dazed is entirely founded and run by women, a detail that feels radical in an industry that hasn’t always made space for them. Throughout their history and founding, Dazed makes a point in making the common love of weed something that feels so much more natural and inviting through their women-centered framework.

As both a woman and a weed enthusiast, I have found that dispensaries and smoke shops are heavily run by men. It is very intimidating and often insulting when you’re hit with assumption after assumption that essentially, you’re “clueless.” Coming to Syracuse, I was so thrilled to hear that this dispensary was not only a street away from campus but also an environment that takes out the stigma and stress I am so used to. Walking into the daze, the difference is immediate. No unsolicited tutorials, no raised eyebrows, no silent judgment. Just genuine conversation from people who actually get it. There’s something quietly powerful about being seen as a knowledgeable customer rather than a lost one, and Dazed delivers that without even trying.

The story of Dazed is one that was built with intention. From the very beginning, the women behind it made a choice—not just to open a dispensary, but to open one that reflected their values. In an industry historically dominated by men, the decision to build something entirely women-owned and women-operated wasn’t just bold, it was necessary. Cannabis has always had its underground community of women who smoke, grow, and advocate, but the mainstream business side rarely reflects that. Dazed fills that gap, and does it with style.

Beyond the huge range of products, the feeling Dazed leaves you with is exactly what keeps people coming back. You leave with exactly what you want, feeling respected, and probably already planning your next business. This is the result of a business built by women who understood exactly what was missing from this space and decided to be the ones to fill it.

Dazed is more than just a dispensary; it’s proof that when women lead, the entire experience shifts. It’s accessible without being basic, knowledgeable without being pretentious, and welcoming in a way that the industry has rarely managed to be.
