The Syracuse winters (and let's be honest, fall too), can wreak havoc on your skin. Between the snow, wind, and stress from midterms and finals, we could all use a little help. Here are five easy swaps to make for big results.

Start with a clean slate

The best way to get ahold of your skin is to start with a clean slate.  Exfoliating will unclog your pores, prevent pimples and give you a nice glow that will leave your skin feeling baby soft all winter long!

For combination skin:

Try the Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash. It’s super gentle and will buff away any and all dead skin.

For dry skin:

Try the Juju Bar Drunk Elephant. Not only is it made from all natural ingredients, but it’s fragrance free, so you don't have to worry about it over drying your skin!

For oily/acne prone skin:

The Ginzing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser from Origins is perfect for acne prone skin. This face wash gently exfoliates and helps unclog pores! It also smells like grapefruit, lemon and mint, which will keep your skin refreshed!

Hydrate your skin

After exfoliating, moisturizing your skin is key. This will help you build a nice barrier between you and the harsh weather. Opt for a moisturizer specifically for your face, such as the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. This one is fast absorbing and will hydrate your thirsty skin all winter long.

Treat yo self

When you find your skin looking dull or in need of a pick me up, choose a hydrating mask, such as the Glossier Moon Mask.  After you apply the mask, put on your favorite show, pick up a book or grab your girlfriends and make a mini spa night out of it!

Swap out your foundation

Change up your foundation and opt for a BB cream or skin tint this winter! BB creams usually contain primer, moisturizer and help balance out skin tones. Skin tints are also great to put over your daily moisturizer and they add a bit of coverage!

For dry/combination skin:

The Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint is perfect for you! You can put it on top of your moisturizer, leaving your skin with a dewy look.

For oily/ acne prone skin:

The SkinActive Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream Oily/Combo Skin by Garnier is ideal for oily or acne prone skin! It also has mattifying ingredients, so you don't have to worry about touching up your makeup throughout the day.

Lip mask

Last but certainly not least, you can't forget about your lips! Try a lip mask like the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask once a week to help keep them plump and moisturized during those cold days.

Don't let the winter blues get to you and your skin. If you add these simple swaps into your daily skin regimen, your skin will be winter ready in no time!
