With a city with so much to offer, it could still be difficult to narrow down exactly what you want to see or do during your time in NYC. As someone who frequently ventures into Manhattan with no agenda, I have come across some very interesting shops, markets, activities—you name it—that everyone must try.

To satisfy your coffee craving

Looking for a chill and aesthetic spot to grab a coffee or hang out with your besties? Here are my top recommendations for unique and moody cafes in Downtown Manhattan.

Located in the heart of West Village, Do Not Feed Alligators is a trendy and unique cafe to start your morning off right. In addition to their delicious coffee, food, and cocktails, they also serve as the location for the Late Night Laughs Comedy Show on select Friday nights! Be sure to stop by for a pastry and coffee, and come back at night for an entertaining and laughter-filled evening. The Not As Bitter cafe has one of, if not the most enticing drink menu I have come across thus far. Their fresh fruit lattes make for an unexpected drink combination, but a tasty and flavorful one at that! And if you’re a big matcha girlie, then you won’t be disappointed.

When stepping into Maman cafe, you’re instantly transported to a mystical, forestry world. If you love cottage core vibes, this place is definitely for you. Their delectable pastries, coffee, and breakfast dishes are not ones to skip out on. With locations all over the Manhattan area, each one is a unique and inviting environment, it’s hard not to love.

Markets, Music, Parks… Oh My!

Discovering unexpected and enticing activities within a bustling city is one of my favorite things to do with my friends. Here are a couple of ideas on how to spend a lovely summer day in NYC.

From vintage antiques and clothing to handmade jewelry, the Chelsea Flea Market truly holds something for everyone. Open year-round every Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., this market is a perfect summer activity for you and your friends to take a stroll through… who knows, your next favorite vintage garment may be waiting for you!

Located on the second floor of 146 W 29th St. awaits your favorite new craft store, Bead Kraft. I know what you may be thinking… Why would I go to a craft store out of all things in NYC? Here, you can make your own charm bracelet, necklace, or any other piece of jewelry that piques your interest. With hundreds of charms to choose from, you’ll be walking away with a new personalized and unique accessory that people will be stopping you on the street to ask where you got it from.

Ever dreamed of having two of your favorite things in the same place, well Sundae Sauce is just the treat for you… literally. This ice cream and music social has everything from live music to stand-up comedy. Attracting a lively and fun crowd, it’s hard not to come back again and again.

Boating at the Central Park Boathouse has been one of my favorite things to do since I was a child. If you’re visiting on a beautiful and bright summer day I definitely recommend renting a boat for an hour and relaxing on the water—I promise it’ll feel like a scene straight out of the Notebook.
