Even though there’s still snow on the ground, summer will be here before you know it, and it’s never too early to get on your fitness grind. I know you see all these aesthetically pleasing fitness and healthy living videos on your for you page on Tiktok, but when push comes to shove, the most exercise you end up wanting to do is a walk to Starbucks for an iced coffee. But luckily we have some tips and tricks to help you find that motivation to become that girl.

#1: Buy Trendy Workout Attire

Nothing is more motivating than a brand new outfit (...maybe even many brand new outfits). When you look good, you feel good. Buying outfits to wear to the gym will help you look, and feel confident, even as a beginner. Brands like Gymshark and SET ACTIVE have trendy, matching workout sets that you can wear to the gym, and also make a cute athleisure outfit.

#2: Create a Perfect Playlist

Picture this: your heart is racing, sweat is dripping down your face, and all you can think is “I don’t think I can do this anymore”. How are you going to make it? The answer: a fire playlist. To push through and distract yourself, create an upbeat playlist of your favorite songs to get through your workout. Set different playlists for different types of workouts like hip hop for lifting and dance-pop for cardio! An alternative to music could be a podcast to help the time pass; especially motivational ones about self-love to help turn you into the best version of yourself.

#3: Try New Workout Classes

There’s no way to know what you do and don’t like unless you try it. Sign up for different classes if they’re available to you and figure out what you’re into. So many exercise classes exist like spinning, pilates, hot yoga, boxing, and boot camp, so you’re sure to find something you love. Classes are a great way to break up your workout routine, try something fun, and work out in a group.

#4: Create a Workout Split

A workout split is strength training different muscles on different days throughout the week. An example would be glutes on Monday, chest and back on Tuesday, quads on Wednesday, arms on Thursday, and glutes again on Friday. This way you can dedicate certain days to focus on certain parts of the body without having to do a full-body workout every day. For muscles, you want to build up and strengthen the most, incorporate them into your workout split twice a week, rather than once a week.

#5: Find Healthy Recipes

It is absolutely vital to fuel your body with healthy food before and after a workout. You can still have cheat days, but it's important to eat a balanced diet to help give your energy to exercise. An artificial sugar high only lasts so long, and by the end of your workout, you will feel completely dead. There are so many healthy and easy-to-make alternatives to our favorite junk food snacks to keep us energized and feeling full the entire day. And who knows, maybe you'll end up liking the healthy alternative more.
