Halloween is right around the corner, and you know what that means: spooky season is near. I know we’ve all seen those TikToks where everyone brings a unique cocktail to try for girl’s night, so here is our version of a cocktail menu to try with your besties. Halloween-inspired, of course
#1: Poison Apple Cocktail
If you are OBSESSED with glitter (umm who isn’t??) then this drink will definitely cast a spell on you!
Ingredients:
1/3 cup apple cider
1/3 cup cranberry juice
2 oz. fireball
1 oz. Grenadine
¼ tsp. Edible gold glitter
Ice
Directions:
1) Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker, then fill the shaker with ice. Shake until contents are mixed and the shaker is cold, about 30 seconds. Pour into glass and serve.
#2: Vampire’s Kiss
I wonder if Stefan or Damon will come my way if I make this drink.
Ingredients:
1 to 2 ounces (1/8 to 1/4 cup) spiced rum
3 ounces (about 1/3 cup) cran-grape or cranberry juice
3 ounces (about 1/3 cup) pineapple juice
Splash of Grenadine
Black sanding sugar
Simple syrup or another sticky liquid
Directions:
1) Start by rolling the rim of your glass in a simple syrup or other sticky liquid, like lemon juice.
2) Dip the coated rim in a saucer of the black sanding sugar, and gently twist the glass to thoroughly coat the rim.
3) In an ice-filled cocktail shaker, combine the rum, cranberry juice, pineapple juice, and grenadine.
4) Shake for about 30 seconds to mix, then strain the cocktail into an ice-filled glass making sure not to splash the sugar-coated rim.
#3: Fright White Cocktail
This drink is so good it will forever haunt your dreams.
Ingredients:
Malibu Original
Coconut cream
Apple juice
White cotton candy
Ice
Directions:
1) Add 1 part Malibu Original, 1 part coconut cream, and 1½ parts apple juice to a strainer and shake with ice.
2) Pour into a martini glass.
3) Garnish with white cotton candy
#4: Purple People Eater Cocktail
If this does not make you believe in magic, I don’t know what will! How often do you see a drink literally change colors before your eyes?
Ingredients:
Blue pea flowers
Boiling water
For the cocktail:
½ cup cranberry juice
⅓ cup gin
3 tbsp St Germain (Elderflower liqueur)
For the eyeballs:
4 fresh or tinned lychee
4 cocktail cherries or blueberries
Directions:
1) First make a pot of blue pea flower tea – let it steep until the color is really an intense blue.
2) Leave the tea to cool then freeze to make ice cubes. Once these are solid, crush them in a powerful blender until you have blue crushed ice. You can keep this in the freezer until you need to use it.
3) Shake the cranberry juice, gin, St Germain and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker half filled with ice,
4) Fill two glasses with ice cubes and then divide the cocktail between the glasses.
5) Top with the blue crushed ice which will gradually turn purple as it melts!
6) Place cocktail cherries (or blueberries) inside fresh or tinned lychee to create the eyeballs and thread them on a cocktail stick to garnish.
… and just because you don’t need alcohol to have a good time
#5: Black Widow Lemonade
This drink might not leave you crawling, but it sure does taste amazing!
Ingredients:
For the blackberry sauce:
300 g (10.5 oz) blackberries (fresh or frozen and thawed)
2 tbsp lemon juice
100 g (1/2 cup) granulated sugar
For the lemonade:
4-5 pomegranate tea bags or ready-made pomegranate tea
ice nuggets (pellets) or small ice cubes
12-18 frozen blackberries
For serving:
6 tall tumbler glasses
paper straws
Directions:
1) Cook the blackberry sauce. Put the blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice into a saucepan and cook over medium-high heat until the sugar has dissolved and the liquid is slightly syrupy. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a jug or bowl. Discard the solids. Place in refrigerator to cool for one to two hours.
2) Brew the pomegranate infusion. Brew 1 liter (4 cups) pomegranate tea according to the manufacturer’s instructions and let cool completely. Alternatively, use ready-to-drink fruit tea from the store.
3) Spoon 4 to 5 tablespoon blackberry sauce into a glass. Fill the tumbler with crushed ice and 2 to 3 frozen blackberries and pour the pomegranate infusion over the ice. Garnish with a paper straw and serve immediately.
