Your Go-To Guide for Building Confidence

How to feel like a queen.

by HAILEY OPPERMAN ★ OCTOBER 24, 2020

Being a young woman in an age of social media is incredibly challenging. With unrealistic expectations constantly being presented to us, we can lose sight of who we are. It can change the way we feel about ourselves and shatter our self-esteem. Confidence is all about having faith in yourself and not worrying about what others think of you. Here is a go-to guide with tips and tricks for building that mindset!

Kill Negative Energy

Know your worth! If the people around you make you feel bad about yourself, then maybe it’s time to make a change. Manifest the energy you wish to receive. Have people in your life that uplift you and support your decisions. Social media can also contribute to lowering your self-esteem. We don’t even realize how much we compare ourselves to others. Follow accounts that spread positivity—remember that you only see the positive moments of people’s lives.

Replace Your Vocabulary

Ever catch yourself constantly saying “sorry” all the time? Or adding “I think” to the front of every sentence? These bad habits lower our self worth. By replacing those words with positive ones, you can become more assertive. You can exude confidence just by the way you speak. These little changes can help you come off as being self-assured. Remember: fake it ‘til you make it!

Set Goals and Intentions

Big or small, setting goals and intentions can help you feel more accomplished and give you a sense of encouragement throughout your day. Ways to organize your thoughts can be through journaling or planning out your weeks with an agenda. Creating attainable goals for each day or dedicating a notebook for processing your thoughts can help you stay on track.

Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

It may be cliché, but it's true. The only way to flourish is by trying new things and pushing yourself outside your limits. You cannot let the fear of the unknown dictate the decisions you make. That will only limit what you are willing to do and how much you can achieve. Make small daily efforts to do tasks that push you outside your comfort zone, like speaking in front of your class or texting someone first! You will never be your best self until you can become comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Building a Healthy Mindset

No question, mental and physical health are the most important aspects of our lives. Not only does a healthy mindset improve your confidence but also improves your attitude. Exercise is a big factor in creating a healthy mindset—it can help you destress, increase positive thinking, and boost your self-esteem! Intuitive eating initiatives are also a great way to feel better about yourself. Developing a healthy relationship with food can improve body confidence. And don’t forget to drink your water!

And Finally… Reward Yourself!

Little acts of self love throughout the day or week can help boost your confidence and mental health. Go get your nails done, go out to eat, or grab a smoothie somewhere, you deserve it!
