Seasons are changing, and you know what that means. It’s flu season! It can be difficult to try and stay healthy while being trapped in a dorm with all of those germs getting passed around. So, follow UGirl’s advice to keep your body healthy and happy!
Staying hydrated:
An important part of staying healthy is hydration. Your body needs water to work effectively. Always carry around a water bottle to ensure that you will be drinking the proper amount of water during the day. And if you’re sick, try to stick to solely drinking water because it will only help.
Getting enough sleep:
Sleep is vital in keeping your body working efficiently. College is a balancing act that can sometimes take away from getting the proper amount of sleep per day. A solid seven to eight hours per night is optimal. Cutting out time in your day for naps can also give your body the rest it needs.
Keeping up your workout routine:
This may seem strange to add, but if your body is active it works more efficiently. The more sedentary you are, the more likely your body will succumb to the many illnesses being passed around your dorm. So remember to stay active, which we know can be hard during these cold winter days. But getting your body moving can keep your mind and body clear.
Being clean and hygienic:
Your dorm is the main place that these pesky germs will be hiding. So don’t forget to keep your space clean. Also, another aspect of staying clean is constantly washing your hands and eating clean. Trying your best to stay clean in the many aspects of your life can be a good prevention to the seasonal cold.
Listening to your body:
Last but certainly not least, listen to your body! You know when your body needs to take a break from your everyday routine. So treat yourself to a nap or some hot soup because even if you do follow all of these prevention techniques, sometimes you just get sick.
Getting sick is normal and when you’re trapped in a dorm all winter it’s hard to avoid, especially during flu season. But if you follow some of these helpful tips, then maybe you can sneak past the annual flu. We hope you thrive this winter!
