Maintaining Mindfulness During Finals

Time to stop stressing and start practicing some self care.

Practice basic self care:

First off, it’s so important to realize that no matter how stressed you get with finals, you should maintain basic self care. This includes daily activities such as washing your face, brushing your teeth, showering, washing hair, moisturizing, taking off makeup, and brushing hair. Even though it sounds obvious, something as simple as a shower can make you feel so much better. It’s so easy to stop taking good, or even basic, care of yourself when you feel super stressed from finals, but it can help you feel a lot less stressed and even help you do better!

Treat yourself with a face mask:

Taking it a step further, face masks are a great way to relax, even on your most stressful days. There are so many great options out there, and sheet masks are usually pretty cheap and easy to find in your local drug store or market. They also make you feel productive even when you may not be! We recommend Tonymoly masks and the Sephora Collection charcoal masks.

Use essential oils:

Essential oils are such a great way to calm yourself down when you’re stressed out. Smells such as lavender have been proven to help de-stress and reduce anxiety levels, as well as add a sense of calmness and serenity, even when you’re super stressed!

Clean up your space:

Keeping a clean room is essential to feeling less stressed during finals. it’s so easy to let everything get super messy when you’re stressed, especially in smaller dorm rooms. Staying clean will help a lot with reducing any additional stress. It’s so much easier to study in a clean dorm than a cluttered one!

Don’t forget to eat well:

We all know that stress eating is a real thing, but in the long run it feels so much better to eat well when you’re stressed out. Eating healthy meals will help you to sustain energy and feel good while studying! Also, snacks usually only give short-term energy, and can make you crash really easily, so snacking less and eating full meals definitely helps when stressed.

Exercise when you can:

Working out sounds like the last thing you want to do when you have so much work and studying to do. However, even just half an hour of working out can make you feel so much better. Exercise is the best way to relieve stress and make you feel super productive! Yoga can help clear your mind while working out, leaving you feeling much less stressed!
