Everyone and their mother knows about The Summer I Turned Pretty on Amazon Prime. It doesn’t matter if you’re Team Conrad, Team Jeremiah–okay that does matter–or Team Belly, we can all agree the finale was iconic.

Whether you watched the show on Amazon Prime or short clips on TikTok, you know how memorable the soundtrack is. Jenny Han, the show’s creator, handpicks each song. The playlist for the finale is just as screamworthy as the plot. Get all the feels for this finale as we go song-by-song.

“Je Te Laisserai Des Mots” by Patrick Watson

We open on Conrad waiting at Belly’s apartment. Somehow he is hotter, more lovesick and the standard for all men. Cue the classic French song that everyone knows with melancholic strings and piano.

The song captures the emotion of Conrad seeing Belly for the first time since her failed wedding with his brother.

This scene is the first time we are introduced to the new and improved Belly. Enter Belly 2.0 with her chic bob, a classic red lip, a sexy smirk and a French attitude. Conrad is immediately starstruck, and just like that, their old flame reignites.

“Old Friend” by Tom Odell & Zaho de Sagazan

Belly seems to feel that old spark too. Pacing around her apartment, she debates on what to say to Conrad. In previous seasons, Belly’s inner monologue allowed us to understand her thoughts. Maybe this silence represents the new and mature Belly?

This scene is so important to the plot of the episode because it very easily could have been an end, cut, scene situation. I don’t even want to imagine a world where Belly didn’t decide to listen to her true feelings.

“Les Champs-Élysées” by Pomplamoose

Nothing like a completely inaccurate and impossible tour of Paris!

In a quick montage of Belly showing Conrad around France, we get so many swoon-worthy scenes. Conrad’s yearning look at Belly in the Louvre, Conrad snapping a pic of Belly on the tour bus, their silly banter and Conrad saying “I want to see Paris through your eyes.”

Pair these scenes with this catchy French adaptation of  “Waterloo Road” and we’re sat, watching a classic 90s rom-com.

This highlight reel solidifies that Conrad will forever be the better brother.

“Corbeau” by Cœur de Pirate

Mature Belly is thriving, mostly by making Conrad’s life impossibly hard. Conrad is being all cute and sweet, looking around Belly’s apartment at all of the photos and memorabilia she has. Of course he stumbles upon a photo of Belly and her Mexican beau, Benito…ouch.

The melancholic melody adds a bittersweet layer to the moment, achingly beautiful just like their relationship. In a basket in the corner of Belly’s room, Conrad finds Junior Mint. We’re reminded with a flashback how Conrad won the stuffed polar bear for Belly in a carnival game. A beautiful, sweet scene and then BAM. Belly walks out in a sexy LBD that sends Conrad spinning.

I love mature Belly because she plays it cool and acts like she isn’t wearing one of the hottest outfits of the entire show. And to twist the knife? She asks Conrad to fasten her simple, gold-chain tennis bracelet. I’m officially #TeamBelly after that.

“J’suis d’accord” by François & “Ta reine” by Angèle

At Belly’s birthday dinner, her friends are saying what we’re all thinking.

When they meet Conrad for the first time, her friends share jokes in French—“If this one’s this hot, what did the other one look like?” and “Isabel, I think he is the gift. Are you going to unwrap it later?” Belly brushes the comments off but her sultry look at Conrad says she’s not exactly disagreeing.

Sharing a blunt and a sexy smirk over her birthday cake, Belly is the moment. Conrad carries this scene as well when he says to her friends, “I was the first one to teach you how to ride a bike.” Babe, that isn’t the only thing you taught her how to ride.

The tension is incredible in this scene. Heightened with the sultry, feminine energy of the song, this scene showcases Lola Tung’s range of acting.

“Everywhere, Everything (feat. Gracie Abrams)” by Noah Kahan & “Slow Dancing In The Dark” by Joji

Meanwhile, back in the states, Taylor is hosting a corporate event for her PR firm at the beach house that Jeremiah, in his The Bear era, is catering. Denise reveals to Taylor that she and Steven got the money they need for their company and can move to California. Taylor blows up and delivers a beautifully written line to Steven: “And I just lost my wait staff.” The writing in this show is sometimes groundbreaking.

Eventually, Taylor and Steven end up making up and making out on the dock in a very crazy position considering this is Taylor’s work event.

As for Jeremiah and Denise, you could clock what was happening from a mile away. Unfortunately their kiss was incredibly hot and one of the best kisses this season. Sigh

“Dress” by Taylor Swift

The scene. The moment. We win.

We have waited all season for this, and it did not disappoint. The earth-shattering scream my friends and I let out in our lounge could probably be heard all the way from the 4th floor in Flint.

We’re moving from the cab, to the stairs, to Belly’s apartment. Then Taylor Swift sings, “Say my name and everything just stops.” Conrad hits us with THE line of the entire show: “I dream about this. You.” Jenny Han, the legend you are, thank you.

Cooling down from that amazing moment, Belly makes it very apparent that Conrad needs to leave. Conrad looks at Belly with tears in his eyes saying, “You don’t love me anymore?”

“Out of the Woods” by Taylor Swift

After Conrad leaves to catch his train, Belly does a complete 180 and changes her mind on her feelings about their relationship. She runs through the Paris train station trying to catch Conrad’s train as the crescendo for “Out of The Woods” builds. She finds Conrad in his seat and confesses her true feelings for him. My heart is so happy, we finally know peace.

“Scott Street” by Phoebe Bridgers

The perfect ending to a perfect finale. Conrad and Belly visit Cousins as a couple.

The comparison to the opening scene of Belly in the car during season one to now, with the guy of her dreams and finally happy, gives me hope. Belly is wearing a gorgeous pale yellow dress and Conrad is the only one who can make loafers with no socks hot. No notes for this scene. The perfect, emotional ending.

“Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” by Darlene Love

Did Han take a page out of Taylor Swift’s book and leave a potential easter egg in the credits? A photobook of Conrad and Belly spending Christmas in Paris together flips across the screen, with a note from Han herself at the end. Though the release date for the movie is unconfirmed, there is speculation that it will be released around Christmas this year.
