Tell Me Lies Season Two: WTF is Going On?
Everything from finale thoughts to Season 3 predictions.

After finishing season one of Hulu's hit drama Tell Me Lies, the show could not be more shocking. After recently finishing season two, every scene left me in disbelief, screaming at my TV. Leading up to the finale, many unresolved mysteries left fans worried that the last episode wouldn’t have enough time to address everything. The writers did an amazing job of resolving many lingering issues while also sparking new ones for season three. For those just wrapping up the newest season, let’s debrief this finale.
Recap:
TW: Spoilers ahead! Episode seven confused many watchers as Lucy and Stephen were hooking up again. With them back together, where does that leave Diana and Stephen? Also, what is happening with Oliver and Bree? Episode eight answered just that. Many fans suspected Diana was lying to Stephen about her dad cutting her off and also failing the LSAT as a master plan for him not to want to be with her anymore... So, in other words, gaslighting. It worked — as it always does — making Stephen think the breakup was all his idea. Falling into his cycle, Stephen thinks he and Lucy are back together after sleeping together, but Lucy believes just the opposite. Of course, sleeping with Stephen again made her remember how much she hated him, returning her to Leo. Seeing Leo and Lucy back together, Stephen becomes highly pissed off. He knows exactly how to tick Leo off and does just that. It wouldn't be a Tell Me Lies episode if it wasn't filled with drama, or for this finale's sake, a brutal fight, this time between Leo and Stephen, which we can argue about if it's deserved or not... I think yes. It turns out Oliver and Marianne are in an open marriage, and Marianne has known all along about Bree. Bree has been the joke of their sick and twisted marriage all along, believing that their affair was meaningful and in secret.
Finally, what we all have been waiting for, we discover what happens to Drew. After Drew and Rigley finally make up, they spend a night out together, where Rigley gives Drew his painkillers. Cut to the following day where Drew dies in his sleep from the pills. Rigley is in shambles, not only losing his brother but blaming himself for it. Everyone is a disaster after learning about Drew’s death. Lucy fears guilt for the letter and wants to tell Rigley the truth. Trying to calm her down and help her relieve her guilt, Stephen makes up a story to take the blame for the letter. Guilty for other reasons, Evan later confesses to Stephen about sleeping with Lucy from watching Stephen being able to tell Rigley the truth. Stephen pretends he is okay with this, but secretly records Evan’s confession. Years later, at Bree and Evan’s wedding, Stephen finally uses the recording and sends it to Bree minutes before she is supposed to walk down the aisle. The finale ends with Bree post-listening to the voice recording, creating many questions about what will happen in season 3.
Thoughts:
To say the least, this season was a rollercoaster. Here are my final thoughts:
Diana’s redemption arc is insane, and she has quickly become likable. The devil works hard, but Stephen Demarco works harder. Lucy has fully become deranged, but Stephen is the reason for this. As much as I want Rigley and Pippa to be endgame, I understand why Pippa cannot reciprocate these feelings. Watching Rigley forgive Stephen so easily hurts, as he punished Pippa for so long when it was not even her fault. Drew’s ending was so sad, and he did not deserve to die. After seeing Marianne tell Lucy, “She is happy Oliver did not get to her first,” she proves how messed up her marriage is.
Unanswered Questions:
Everyone was left wondering something. Personally, my final questions for season three are:
How do Bree and Evan end up together? Who is Bree on the phone with? How do Stephen and Lydia get together? Will Stephen's secret about being with Macy the night she died ever be revealed? Does Bree and Evan’s marriage still happen? When did Diana and Pippa get together? Has Rigley come to terms with Drew’s death, and does he still blame himself?
Season 3 Predictions:
With all these questions, people are looking for answers, and will soon get them now that the show has been renewed for a third season. So, cast your predictions. Here is mine:
I think Stephen is still in love with Lucy, and there is a reason we do not know yet why he is engaged to Lydia. Stephen has been plotting against Lucy and Evan for the past 8 years because they slept together, waiting to use the voice recording. Bree will still marry Evan regardless of the voice recording. Yes, it’s terrible, but hold on to this information and still marry Evan for the money and ability to have a family. Throughout their marriage, she will definitely have infidelities. Right? Also, don’t forget that Lucy knows about her past relationship with Oliver and was by her side the whole time, regardless of her opinions and relationship with Marianne. Many fans speculate Bree’s mysterious phone call is not with Oliver, but Marianne warning her about her book because it has stories about her and Oliver’s love affair. I don't know if I agree, but we will see.
Now you're caught up on the final episode of Tell Me Lies Season Two. From crazy cliffhangers to predictions, we can't wait to see what season three has in store. See you then?
