The year 2023 is the year for, what fans like to call themselves, “Lana’s Cult.” Between a feature in Taylor Swift’s song Snow On The Beach, singles produced by Del Rey, Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd and A&W, the upcoming album, and Interview Magazine’s latest issue Lana Del Rey and Billie Eilish Fall in Love, Lana Del Rey has the world in the palm of her hand and we are absolutely here for it.

13 years ago, a star was discovered. Lana Del Rey had a massive breakthrough moment after a YouTube video of the singer performing what would soon be her first single, Video Games, went viral. Around this time, Canadian singer, The Weeknd, had a couple of songs out as well and even admitted to Eddie Fu (Genius Song Lyrics & Knowledge writer) that the monologue intro to Lonely Star, it was “heavily inspired by Lana Del Rey.” The Weeknd stated, “She is the girl in my music, and I am the guy in her music.” Ever since then, Del Rey has produced eight successful albums, awaiting the ninth one, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd.

In September 2022, Taylor Swift revealed a segment on TikTok/Instagram called Midnight's Mayhem With Me where the singer would pick a number from random, and announce the name of that number from the tracklist. In the final episode of this segment, Swift had only one more title from the tracklist to be broadcasted to her followers. Taylor Swift said that the title name was Snow On The Beach, but then she took a pause, and smirked as she added, “Featuring Lana Del Rey.” Fans of the two were commenting on this post with statements like, “WHAT DO YOU MEAN FEATURING LANA DEL REY,” and, “She knows the chaos she just caused.” This was only the beginning of the recurrence, that is Lana Del Rey.

Recently on TikTok, there are these ongoing jokes which include statements like, “That is so Lana Del Rey Vinyl,” or simply saying that Lana Del Rey is the epitome of “coquette” core. What these quips imply is that it is an aesthetic to embrace and indulge in anything romantic, feminine, and beautiful; many believe Lana Del Rey is the queen herself when it comes to this department.

So what is to be expected for the upcoming album, Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, which will be released in late March of this year? Lana Del Rey has shared with Billie Eilish in an interview for Interview Magazine that the album has been completed since September 2022. Del Rey also revealed that this album felt significantly more natural and effortless compared to her 2019 album, Norman Fucking Rockwell. More into the interview, Billie Eilish told Lana that she truly has changed the music industry as well as the way people sing. Lana Del Rey has an ambiance that exudes soft but meaningful, which we can see a lot of today from singers like Lizzy McAlpine, Mazzy Star, and Gracie Abrams to name a few.

Singles Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd and A&W are two songs that will be on Lana Del Rey’s ninth album Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. It is evident that the two do not have any similarities; one is a very light piano ballad, while the other is unlike anything Del Rey has produced. Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd was the leading single and did not disappoint. Lana’s fans expressed glee and utmost excitement for the song and for what’s to come. The last single that has been released is A&W, which stands for American Whore. A&W is a rollercoaster, in the best way possible; it is a seven-minute song of pure psychedelic feelings as well as beauty. Lana Del Rey has shaped music and culture to be the way it is now, and “Lana’s Cult” can hardly wait for the rest of the tracks which will be revealed on March 23, 2023…
