Victoria’s Secret: The Tour ‘23
Where was the fantasy?

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show: gorgeous, sexy, glamorous. At least, that’s what it used to be. After a hiatus from the famous yearly fashion shows we all know and love, Victoria’s Secret came back this year with what promised to be an iconic return. But for some of us, disappointment was a better title than “iconic.” The lack of the wings, color, lace, glitter, diamonds, sexy runway walks, and the overall VS vibe left viewers like me let down, confused, and just straight up wondering, “What the f was that?”
The inclusivity was great, and the models all looked absolutely stunning and killed it. Adriana Lima’s comeback nearly brought tears to my eyes. But the scenery lacked a runway, first of all, but also lacked any sort of color or “fantasy” aspect that made the past fashion show what it was.
The models all wore dresses, jumpsuits, and other clothing items that are far-fetched from their former brand. There were NONE of the sexy and stunning VS bras, underwear, lingerie, or even swimsuits that we all love and adore. And the biggest let down…there were no angel wings at all. The whole theme of the admirable “VS Angels” appeared to be scrapped entirely, which was devastating. Overall, it just looked like a boring run-of-the-mill fashion show. Once again, no fantasy, no angels, and no sexy, gorgeous outfits being paraded. Although models like Adriana, Naomi Campbell, and Winnie Harlow were present, the vibe just wasn’t the same. It’s hard to even imagine being bored of a fashion show that features these gorgeous women, but Victoria’s Secret really just did not let them live up to their potential that we all have seen in past shows.
It’s unclear what exactly Victoria’s Secret was trying to do with this. We all love a good rebrand, but this was just plain depressing. Without the angels and the glitz and glamor, what is Victoria’s Secret even for? Hopefully the unsatisfactory ratings and reviews coming in day by day will send them the message that change is okay, but you can’t take away everything the fans love. Here’s to hoping next year’s fashion show brings back the fantasy we all love and admire.
