When Queen B hits the road, you know it’s a big deal. Beyoncé’s highly anticipated Renaissance World Tour, named after her newest album, has become the highest-grossing tour by a female artist in history–making more than $461 million. With nearly 60 shows, the first stop was on May 10, in Stockholm, Sweden, and the last stop was on October 1, in Kansas City, Missouri.
There is a lot to unpack on this tour. I mean… It included her Grammy-winning album, appearances by her now TikTok viral daughter Blue Ivy, numerous special guests ranging from the Kardashians to the Vice President, and the shimmering silver dress code that took over social media. Without further ado, here’s an inside look into the most memorable parts of the Renaissance tour.
The Tracklist:
Kicking off the show with Destiny’s Child's famous song ‘Dangerously In Love,’ the almost three-hour-long concert consisted of all the new songs off her latest album, embedded with late 2000’s hits we all know and love like ‘Crazy In Love’, ‘Love on Top,’ and ‘Who Run the World (Girls)’ in between. Ending the show with a vibrant performance of ‘Summer Renaissance,’ the closing track off the new album was the perfect way to wrap up the highly anticipated, perfect show and we didn’t expect any less.
Though there was no formal opener, for a select few shows at the end of tour in Los Angeles, DJ Khaled stepped in as the opening act for what was titled the “Club Renaissance” section of the show, entering the stage with a performance of “All I Do Is Win,” and of course, doing what he does best… screaming his name.
Blue Ivy:
What do you do when your parents are two of the most famous people on the planet? Blue Ivy Carter is the blueprint. Contrary to most normal eleven-year-olds, Blue didn’t spend the summer in camp, or start middle school in person this Fall, instead, she spent the past four months accompanying her mother on stage as one of her several backup dancers, while simultaneously going viral on TikTok.
Special Guests:
We can’t talk about her tour without mentioning all the a-list celebs that were there. In her hometown Houston, Texas, Meghan Thee Stallion joined Beyoncé on stage to perform the ‘Savage’ remix. When bringing the Renaissance tour to Los Angeles for three consecutive nights (one of which was her birthday,) celebrities flocked to SoFi Stadium to see the sensation live. Beyoncé brought out Kendrick Lamar to perform the remix of their collaboration ‘America Has a https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/khloé-kardashian-penelope-disick-kim-kardashian-north-west-news-photo/1660977092Problem.’ The following day, Diana Ross attended her sold-out birthday party of 70,000 people, surprising Beyoncé on stage and singing happy birthday. And then of course, there are all the A-list attendees, like Jeff Bezos, Justin & Hailey Bieber, Katy Perry, Lizzo, Kamala Harris, Zendaya and Tom Holland, The Kardashian/Jenner family, Meghan Markle, and Prince Harry but it doesn’t stop there.
The list of iconic guests goes on and on for a star like Beyoncé. And though we didn’t think it was possible to take our eyes off Beyoncé, we were proven wrong when Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet hard launched their relationship at the concert, and we couldn’t help but stare–don’t pretend you didn’t also watch that one Instagram reel of them kissing a hundred times too.
Dress Code:
Concert or fashion show? You tell me. The Renaissance tour was the fashion event of the summer, with only one rule to enter the “BeeHive,” a strict dress code of silver and chrome to match the album theme. Everyone put their own spin on this disco vibe, whether that was cowboy hats, foil mini-skirts, sequin bodysuits, or platform heels. Even her famous TikTok pianist, Emily Bear, dyed her hair silver for the occasion.
After four months of legendary music, striking dancing, special guests, and what seemed like a never ending wardrobe, just like her acclaimed song “I’m That Girl,” we can confirm, Beyoncé IS that girl. And it gets better… At the end of her final show, a trailer was projected onto the big screens, confirming that a Renaissance Tour film is coming to theaters, only proving that Queen Bey stepped up to the throne.
