If you had all the money and resources in the world, what would you do for Halloween? When the opportunities are endless, and the world is watching, the pressure is on for celebrity costumes. Stars like Heidi Klum, the Biebers, the Kardashians, and the Hadids have the whole world watching to see what they come up with for the holiday. However, even at the top, finding the balance between taste, beauty, and creativity is no easy feat. So, with Halloween right around the corner, let's dive into some of our favorite A-lister costumes of all time.
It would be wrong to start this list with anyone other than the queen of Halloween herself, Heidi Klum. Each year, the former supermodel hosts a massive A-List costume party, where she has been known to sport some of the most intricate and outrageous costumes in the game. She's had enough jaw-dropping costumes to compile a top 10 list of her own; however, for the sake of variety, we have selected her most insane costume to date: herself. In 2016, Heidi used wigs and prosthetics to turn five women into her clones. The outlandish costume was rumored to cost her roughly 10 million dollars… and we thought Yandy was overpriced!

Despite the unfortunate end to their relationship, Bella Hadid and The Weeknd had one of the most well-executed couple costumes to date. We must admire his willingness to go full out as Beetlejuice, the unhinged spirit from Tim Burton's Halloween classic film. Bella dressed as his love interest, Lydia Deetz. Bella’s red dress, veil, and spiky hair look perfectly embodied Winona Ryder’s timeless character.

Unlike some of the other outlandish costumes on this list, Hailey Bieber dressed as Nurse Ratched, a deranged nurse from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest who received her own series starring American Horror Stories’ Sarah Paulson in 2020. The character works at a psychiatric institution, where she abuses and torments her patients. Ratched’s notoriety makes for a perfect Halloween look, combining the elements of a classic sexy nurse costume while still paying homage to the horrifying character.

Even though Elvis has been all the rage this year, Kaia Gerber and Jacob Elordi already had the memo back in 2020. The couple did a rendition of a 1973 look of the couple at an upscale dinner party. Jacob rocked a blue suit as Elvis, while Kaia wore a purple set courtesy of Charlotte Knowles. In addition to looking great, the costume aged very well, as Jacob Elordi has been cast as Elvis in Sofia Coppola’s new film Priscilla.

For most of us, the last thing we would ever want to dress up as for Halloween is our own sibling. Then again, most of us aren’t the Hiltons. In Nicky Hilton’s hilariously self-referential 2018 costume, she dressed as her sister, Paris, in her iconic 21st birthday club dress. Now that’s hot.

Harry Styles has been celebrated for blurring the lines of gender with his style, and Halloween is no exception. Last year, he dressed as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, complete with sparkling shoes, a checkered dress, and a hair bow. Not only did he pull it off flawlessly, but it’s important that someone with a platform as large as Harry’s is normalizing wearing whatever costume makes you feel confident.

With Kim Kardashian's recent entrance into the field of law, what better Halloween costume than Elle Woods, the OG hot girl lawyer? Back in 2019, Kim wore the iconic pink dress with pink sunglasses from the movie and even had her pup in a bag as Elle’s beloved dog, Bruiser. Even better, to go with this costume, Kim recreated Elle’s iconic Harvard video essay with a Kardashian twist. In addition to looking amazing, the costume made a statement, reminding us that much like Elle Woods, Kim Kardashian’s it-girl status and bombshell appearance should not make us underestimate her abilities as a lawyer.
While we could keep this list going forever, these costumes have caught our eye as some of the best executed costumes of recent years. With the year 2022 has been for fashion, we can only imagine what our favorite celebs will have in store for this halloween. So, if you’re the kind of person who is still mulling over costumes for the weekend, take a page out of these celebs books. Whether it’s simple and refined like Hailey, self reflective like Nicole or Kim, or out of this world like Heidi, it is always best to opt for costumes that best embody yourself, your personal style, and your favorite pieces of media.
