The Hype Over Scrawny-Tattooed “Rock Stars”
Why is everyone’s new “hot boy obsession” not very hot?
by CHARLIE WENIG ★ JANUARY 23, 2022
What do Megan Fox, Addison Rae, and Kim and Kourtney Kardashian all have in common (other than being extremely hot and famous)? They have all seemed to have formed relationships with the same type of celebrity. Machine Gun Kelly, Pete Davidson, Travis Barker, and Omer Fedi can be described as edgy male celebrities who look like they have severe sleep deprivation. Personally, I don’t see the attraction, so why are some of the biggest female celebrities falling for this atypical type of guy?
Preference on who you are attracted to doesn’t need justification, but there has to be an explanation for how Kourtney Kardashian went from ultimate preppy d-bag, Scott Disick, to tattooed rockstar-drummer, Travis Barker. What is the correlation? And why are so many beautiful female celebrities changing the game?
When looking at the relationship timelines of these female celebrities dating this type of scrawny and edgy guy, there seems to be a pattern: a bad heartbreak and a new direction in men. It’s no secret that Kourtney Kardashian and her ex-boyfriend, Scott Disick, had a dicey relationship, but now that Kourt has moved on, she is literally glowing. The same could go for Megan Fox. She and MGK seem to be a match made in heaven. Obviously, fans can only assume so much from Instagram pictures and paparazzi photos, but a flip has definitely switched among these female celebrities.
While some relationships, such as Kim and Pete, aren’t as public as others, we can still see how these women are being influenced by their new beau’s. Especially when looking at Kourtney and Travis’ relationship, Kourtney seems to have been influenced by Barker’s more edgy style. The mom of three can be seen on her Instagram rocking leather outfits and eight-inch heels, a punk contrast to her usual style from the pre-Travis days.
We hate to say it, but is there a dating trend going on here? If MGK and Pete Davidson are the new “hot-boy-standard”, we are fully prepared to take the non-tattooed-muscle athletes off of the ever-so-full plates of the models and celebrities who don’t want them anymore, just saying.
