Have you ever thought about what your life would be like if you were 20 years old living in, basically, a frat house mansion posting your whole life on social media? The hate these 20 years olds receive is honestly just based on pure jealousy. It is easier to hate the Hype House than love it because of how "easy" these people's lives are, but Netflix takes you behind the scenes of how life is not that perfect.
The tiktoker’s describe their fame because they posted a video on an app and are now living in a mansion. I think it's better to focus on the individuals rather than the house as a whole.
Let's start with the fan-favorite, Vinnie Hacker. Vinnie is only 19 years old, and he is best known for his thirst trap tik toks and the Youtubers versus Tiktokers boxing match, where he was the only TikToker to win. Vinnie acts like any other regular teenage boy. He plays video games all day and gets moody sometimes. The moral of the story is that Vinnie is everyone's current crush, and girls are obsessed with him and his dating life. He is the unproblematic king of Tik Tok!
Lil Huddy, aka Chase Hudson (the boy who broke Charlie D’Amelio’s heart), was painted as the bad guy in the Netflix show. Since the show has come out in the past couple of days, Chase has spoken up about how the clips they used were out of context to spark some drama. Although he was in the credits as a producer, he was never allowed to watch the show before it aired. The high school-like drama between Chase and Thomas (the creator of the Hype House) felt forced and made Thomas seem desperate for fame and money. Post Chase moving out of the Hype House, he started expanding into the music industry and leaving tik tok behind (as he should). The Hype House members were jealous of Huddy’s fame and were no longer getting a cut of his money, so they threw a tantrum.
Nikita and Larray, I think, go hand in hand. They both found their fame on Youtube and then branched out into the Tik Tok world. To have a reality show, there needs to be drama… and well, Nikita and Larray brought it. Whether that was through their messy fights about Covid and partying or Larray bringing attention to Nikita’s blackfishing content. This pair truly needs their show. Larray is not one to let things slide, and when Nikita denied blackfishing, Larray put her back in her place. As many people made fun of the show, some essential topics needed to be brought to light.
I feel like Alex is still a David Dobrik wannabe, and honestly, I just don’t understand Kouvr. They are in their early twenties, and she was upset because she thinks their house relationship is for the cameras and views. I’m sure it is, but their whole storyline annoyed me.
Thomas, I really have nothing to say about him.
So, why do we love to hate the Hype House? Honest answer, I don’t know. I think we are all secretly jealous of kids our age making millions of dollars off posting dancing videos. Besides that, was this show worth it? Not, I would have much instead had a season two of The Society. I’m sure everyone would agree with that!
