The 411 on the “Love On Tour”

A true (watermelon sugar) high of an experience.

by CASEY LANGE ★ NOVEMBER 7, 2021

Three words: Harry. Freaking. Styles. Yes, that’s right, America’s heartthrob is back on tour again performing his sophomore album Fine Line, and we are way too excited about it. After a concert-less year due to the pandemic, the highly anxious Harry Styles ticket-holders are finally able to have the experience of a lifetime. We are here to break down this (watermelon sugar) high of an experience: the fashion, the setlist, and of course, all things Harry.

The Fashion

In case you have been living under a rock, Harry Styles is a fashion icon. (Actually, I’m incredibly concerned for you if you weren’t aware of that.) He wears bold colors and prints, leather boots, challenges gender norms, and is basically a walking Gucci ad. He dares to dress how other boys never would. His tour fashion has been nothing short of perfect so far. To kick off the tour, Harry wore a custom red Gucci fringe vest and pants to match. He was *glistening*… and every show just gets better. On Sunday, October 3rd, night one at Madison Square Garden, he wore an all-black suit with feathers down the sleeves with shiny black boots, once again perfectly balancing that rockstar with a classy look. I could go on and on about the iconic fits for each show, but the bottom line is, Harry does not miss. If you want to keep up with all of Harry’s 10/10 outfits, you can follow his stylist, Harry Lambert, on Twitter (@harry_lambert), where he posts them after each show. However, Harry’s fashion isn’t the only thing bringing A-game to these shows…

The Fan Fashion

The Love On Tour has become The Met Gala for fan fashion. If you came up to me and said you were going to Harry Styles tonight, the first question I would ask is, “OMG what are you wearing?” To go to a Harry Styles concert, you can’t just wear your average jeans and a crop top. Fans have been taking their concert fits to the next level, recreating iconic Harry looks or dressing to song titles like “Watermelon Sugar” or “Kiwi.” In other words, if you go to a Harry Styles concert, you have to wear clothes that you can only wear once. Chunky heels and bright blazers have been all the rage inside the fandom. Watermelon-themed accessories, bright colors, fringe, bold makeup looks, and of course fun sunglasses are encouraged. Some girls have even been showing up in costumes. No joke, two girls showed up as watermelons just to get noticed by Harry and they did (I mean, whatever works). If you are one of the ones lucky enough to be close to Harry, I recommend the ultimate accessory: a sign. If you want to get noticed, bring one. Literally, write “Harry, punch me in the face” (which we know you are thinking) and trust me, it will work. He’ll see it, laugh, and maybe even say something to you. It is the ultimate accessory to complete your look, and doesn’t everybody want Harry to notice that great outfit they worked so hard to plan? All bets are off when it comes to Love On Tour fashion, so if you’re attending, prepare for the fashion show of a lifetime.

The Setlist

If you’re heading to Love On Tour, don’t expect to just hear music from Fine Line--Harry performs songs from all eras of his career. Spoiler alert: Harry opens the show with his hit song, “Golden.” The lights go down, and all you hear is that opening line… CHILLS. I literally might need to grab a jacket. He continues to keep the vibe fun and upbeat by following it up with “Carolina” from his self-titled debut album. Of course, we can expect some of his more intimate songs, like “Only Angel” and “She” (Is it hot in here or is it just Harry?). Harry slows it down with  “Two Ghosts,” “Falling,” and “Cherry,” then picks it back up with “Lights Up,” “Canyon Moon,” and “Treat People With Kindness.” During this section of the concert, fans in the pit are known to form conga lines and dance circles. But the fun doesn’t stop here. This continues to one of the classic songs from Harry’s One Direction days: What Makes You Beautiful. This is the only One Direction song Harry has chosen to perform on this tour, whereas last time he sang three. As the concert comes to a close, Harry performs his two most depressing (yet cinematic) songs back to back, “Fine Line” and “Sign of the Times,” so if you made it through the concert without tissues… you should probably get those out now. But be ready to dance afterward, because he ends with two of his best fruity songs, “Watermelon Sugar” and, of course, “Kiwi.” Overall, this setlist is an emotional rollercoaster.

The bottom line is: if you’re not going to the “Love On Tour” or at least keeping up with all the fun, you are missing out. Looking for a sign to buy your ticket? This is it.
