Glamorizing the Daily Life of a College Student
A guide to elevating your daily routines.

While I would love to say being a college student is equally glamorous as seen in movies, truth be told, it isn’t. When coming to college, I expected to have so much free time to go to the gym, get my work done, get ready for class, and have time to prioritize self-care; however, I quickly realized that wasn’t the case. Regardless of that being said, during my first semester, I developed some healthy habits that I’m excited to share.
The start of your day can make or break the rest of it. There are three things I need to do when I wake up: drink water, make my bed, and do my skincare and makeup. I follow the TikTok makeup routine consisting of tinted sunscreen, concealer, bronzer, highlighter, and brow gel. Taking some time in the morning to make myself feel a little more put together, helps start my day off in the right way.
My nighttime routine is arguably my favorite time of day. After coming home from a long day of classes, I need to unwind. After finishing my work, I take a nice long shower and do my skincare routine, and then throw on my comfiest outfit. I love to make some tea and crawl into bed. There is nothing better than crawling into bed after a long day and just laying in bed knowing you’re done with everything you need to do for the day. If I have a lot on my mind, I love to plug in my Airpods and journal about what’s on my mind. Doing this before going to bed allows me to release all my anxiety, and it helps me sleep.
Besides creating a solid morning and night routine, I have some tips to get you through the rest of the day. You can do small little things daily to make you feel healthier and better while adding some glamor to your days. Starting with some healthy habits suggestions: I always recommend carrying a water bottle. I also drop some Chlorophyll in my bottle because of its added benefits. I don’t know if it actually does anything, but I like to think it does. I also take several supplements, including Vitamin C and D, Keratin, and multivitamin, which is a great way to get the nutrients your body lacks when you’re in college. Finally, I love drinking peppermint tea before going to bed. Peppermint tea has a lot of benefits, including helping you debloat before bed. After feasting at Graham Dining Hall, I tend to feel a little bloated, so before I go to bed I like to make some tea to help me feel better the next morning.
As for the glamor aspect I touched on earlier, many things allow you to glamorize your college life. Going to a coffee shop and ordering a latte, getting dressed up for drinks and dinner with your girlfriends, getting yourself ready for a class a few times a week, and putting on a matching set for the gym are all things that you can do in your daily life to boost your mood. My biggest advice is to do at least one thing for yourself daily to make yourself feel better. Sometimes it can be hard to prioritize self-care, but doing something self-care-related throughout the day will benefit you in the end.
