Where We’re Spring Breaking 2023

And where you should too…

by LEILA YANG ★ MARCH 8, 2023

It’s that time of year again where we are halfway through the semester and spring break is upon us. Everyone is constantly tired and drowning in school work at this point. Whether you are traveling or just staying home, a break is always much needed – which is why this list of popular destinations where students are spending their spring break this year is meant to inspire your own travels.

Miami, FL

Let’s start with the classic and expected, Miami. As basic as this may seem, you cannot blame people who will be traveling to Miami because this destination is a common favorite place for not only spring break, but to get away when needed. This gorgeous city provides perfect weather, amazing food, white sandy beaches and unforgettable night life – what more could you ask for? There’s really nothing better than spending a day shopping on Lincoln Road with family and friends then heading to South Beach to tan while downing a delicious sandwich (yes, the sandwich + beach combination is unmatched) then going back to your hotel room to shower and get ready for dinner and a fun night. You are guaranteed an amazing spring break in sunny Miami.

New York City, NY

With one of the biggest cities in the world being just a four hour drive or a one hour flight away, who wouldn’t want to spend their break exploring and eating some of the best foods in the best city in this world? (Yes, NYC is the best city in the world.) It’s impossible to get bored here and there’s always something to do, from museums to parks and more. There might not be sandy beaches, but there are beautiful buildings and endless activities. Especially if you have never visited the city before, there are so many fun things to do and amazing restaurants to try. Here are some recommendations: Catch NYC has the freshest seafood, Serafina and Il Brigante are the best when you’re craving comfort Italian food, and The Smith and Soho Diner have plenty of American classics. (You have to try the toasted marshmallow shake from Soho Diner). NYC is definitely one of the best ways to spend break, and you’ll never run out of things to do.

Cancún, Mexico

Cancún is a popular vacation spot that’s great for friends and family, and is a prime getaway destination. The definition of the perfect spring break includes an all-inclusive resort with great food, the beach two steps away and unlimited drinks (if you are of age, of course). Anyone who spends spring break in Cancún with friends looks like they are having the time of their lives. You never even have to leave the resort either, since everything is already there! Not only will you have an unforgettable time in Cancún, but you will also get the perfect, much needed tan.

Home Sweet Home

Honestly, going home is an ideal way to spend any break. It’s always so exciting to look forward to going back home, and the chance to relax with friends and family. There’s something about the air from home that just feels comforting and happy. Many people end up spending at least some of their break back in their hometown, which is the perfect opportunity to decompress. Home cooked meals, being able to take a bath, seeing your dog and hanging out with your high school friends sounds like a chef's kiss. Oh – and most importantly, sleeping in your own bed.

Campus!

There are some people staying on campus for spring break! It’s honestly kind of cool being on campus with no one else around. Sleeping in and not needing to go to class on top of being able to do whatever you want with no deadlines is honestly great. You can also get to know Syracuse more during this time and try a new restaurant or hit up an old favorite. Don’t worry, you’re really not missing out on much – there’s nothing wrong with a staycation!

These are just some of the many popular destinations students are traveling to this spring break. No matter where you spend the week, we can all agree that we deserve some much needed time away from school. (And time to catch up on sleep). Here’s to having the best spring break!
