The Best Drinks to Walk Around Campus With This Spring

Because you always need a bev.

by GIANNA LANFRANK ★ MARCH 1, 2023

There’s nothing I love more than sipping on a drink—it’s like my sole source of serotonin. And with the weather slowly getting warmer, I find myself craving a cold bev as I walk around campus. If I could drag a mini fridge behind me filled with juice every day, I would. But since I can’t, I spend the money I don’t have on yummy bevs found both on campus and on Marshall Street. Since my personal list is far too extensive, I have included a few of my favorites for you to enjoy.

Pages Cafe in Bird Library

This is my everyday pick, which may be surprising to you. But I stand by my belief that this coffee is better than any coffee you can get on campus or Marshall street. The lattes are my absolute favorite, the chai lattes are to die for, and the iced coffees are even great. I get oat milk and hazelnut flavoring in mine, but they have a bunch of other milk options and flavors ranging from vanilla to peppermint. The price is reasonable at $4.99, but a quick scan of your dining dollars will make you feel like it’s free.

CoreLife Lemonade

I know what you’re thinking, why would I wait in a long line just for a lemonade? But when I tell you it is the best, I mean it. The regular lemonade is more tart than it is sweet, which is the perfect kind of lemonade (and I will not be taking differing opinions). My roommate’s favorite is the Berry Patch, which is similar to fruit punch and sweeter than the regular lemonade. A drink here will cost you less than $4, and since they also take dining dollars, you literally have no excuse not to go.

Mountain Dew Energy

Mountain Dew Energy entered my life in the fall of 2021, and I have been a fan ever since. The taste is reminiscent of a Capri Sun with a little bit of carbonation while also containing vitamins like Zinc and vitamin A and the caffeine equivalent of two cups of coffee. Rather than getting that jittery feeling Red Bull can give, this drink is more like a slow rise. Found anywhere in Schine or places like Pages Cafe, the drink will cost you $2.80. My wallet and my brain benefit from drinking this, and yours will too.

Kung Fu Tea

This is for my bubble tea lovers and those willing to try it! Kung Fu Tea is right next to Five Guys, sort of behind Marshall Street. They have milk tea, punch, yogurt drinks, slushies, espresso, literally anything you could ever dream of (seriously– their menu is so big it’s kinda scary). When I'm in the mood for tea, I get the honey milk tea with tapioca pearls. When I want more of a juice, I love the strawberry lemonade with tapioca bubbles. If you’re not feeling tapioca, they also have mango and grape poppers (to name a few) and tea or fruit jellies. Depending on your base, toppings, and size, this drink can run between $4-7. But every dollar spent here is worth it, trust me.

Purple Banana

Sometimes nothing is better than a smoothie on a hot day, and these ones just hit. A new addition on Marshall Street, Purple Banana has the cutest vibes and even better drinks. You can either create your own smoothie or pick from the seven options they have on the menu. Whether you like a smoothie that is creamy, fruity, or chocolatey, they have it. You can also add fruit juice or protein powder to switch it up. Unfortunately, this bev is the priciest on this list at around $8. But if you consider all the ingredients and how much smoothie you’re actually getting, it makes sense.

I hope you decide to try one of these yummy drinks, whether for the first time or again. These options give you something to sip on and double as a fun little accessory that can add to whatever vibe you’re trying to portray. Can’t wait to see you all in the spring, bev in hand!
