The walk you never knew you needed.

Achieving a hot girl walk in a college gym wasn’t something I ever thought was possible… until I discovered how to do it. It's not just an activity; it's a playlist, an outfit, a speed, an incline, and most importantly, a mindset. I now can’t go a day without my HGW--and neither should you. Not only has this gotten me into great shape, but is truly my “me time” of the day that I look forward to the most where I can relax and unwind. So, here’s your go-to guide on how to master the college-hot college girl walk with confidence.

The Location

Although my go-to hot girl walk takes place in my university’s gym, it doesn't necessarily have to. Campus is always a good place to do your walk! Look for available walking trails or just walk freely and enjoy the views! The sky is really the limit with this.

The Uniform

Let's be honest, looking good is feeling good. Step two to mastering the HGW is getting yourself some cute workout clothes, and it doesn't have to be a set. Feeling cute in my athleticwear is all the motivation I need to get me off the couch and on my way to the gym. Some of my favorite places to shop for these are Set Active, Lululemon, Alo Yoga, Beyond Yoga, and Free People Movement! And if you’re shopping on a budget, Target and Amazon are always a go-to. If you want to be sustainable or eco-friendly, there are always great finds at local thrift stores, as well.

Music

This step is CRUCIAL for a good hot girl walk. Now, I’m not just talking about one song. You’re gonna need a full playlist. The playlist should be a mix of rage-running music (ex. Good for You by Olivia Rodrigo) and light walking music (ex. Low by SZA). One of my favorite playlists on Spotify consists of Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and a bunch of other angry-girl music, perfect for stomping. There are so many premade playlists for this walk, especially on Spotify. “Hot Girl Walk Anthem”, “pov: ur that girl” and “Angry Songs for Angry Girls” have really good options with strong beats to them.

Speed and Incline

The incline is up to you and however challenging you want your walk to be, so adjust! But speed is what is most important. You should aim to change the speed of the treadmill to fit the beat of the song. If it’s a fast-paced song it will probably be around level 6-8, and when it’s slower the speed will be around 2-4. Having the beat of the song synced to each step will incline you to keep going (no pun intended).

Hair Style

For a hot college girl walk I love to put my hair up in a slick back and, most importantly, put a hair mask and hair oil in before I do. Let me tell you, this is life-changing and a two-in-one of maintaining my hair health while getting my workout in. After your HGW your hair will be insanely smooth and healthy, killing two birds with one stone. For a college student in a time crunch, this is a must.

Company

This hot girl does not need to walk alone, bring a friend! Walking with friends is always super fun, and even more fun at college. Make the gym treadmill line your new morning debrief location. You can sync playlists and motivate each other to walk that much faster!

This walk routine has personally changed the way I go to the gym and just makes working out so much more fun! Not only am I burning off some steam, but I'm getting fit and listening to some good music. Happy walking!
