How to Get the Attention of Your Class Crush

Prepare to feel like the main character in your very own rom-com.

by JOLIE ZENNA ★ NOVEMBER 5, 2021

We’re back to in-person classes and we're almost halfway through the semester, so I know there’s at least one person in one of your classes that has caught your eye. What makes being back in the classroom so exciting is the return of the class crush. Sure, you may have had one over your Zoom screen but that’s just not the same as having one in person. Face-to-face interaction gives you the opportunity to actually talk to them beyond the screen. I’m sure you’ve seen all the classics where the boy or girl has that special someone in their class that they daydream about but never talk to. If this is your reality, hang tight for some ~fun and flirty~ ways to grab their attention.

1. Dress your best to exude confidence

We all love going to class in sweatpants and oversized hoodies, but we’re trying to stand out here. As much as it might be a pain to wake up earlier to put together a cute outfit, we feel our best when we look our best, and people are attracted to confidence. On the days you have classes with that special someone, ditch the sweatpants and wear a pair of jeans or a shirt you think brings out your eyes. Think about this as doing it for you and not for them. You want to look and feel good for yourself. Walk into that class feeling like the hottest version of yourself. Your confidence will be obvious to that special someone.

2. Sit near them if you can

We’re at the point in the semester when even in classes that don’t have assigned seats, *unassigned assigned seats* are a thing. If this is the case in your class with that special someone, don’t just randomly change the seating order and sit with them (that might be a little weird…). But, if people change their seats each class, try and sit next to your crush. If you're feeling brave, maybe crack a joke about the professor or ask a question about the homework. Anything casual and friendly is a go. Slow and steady wins the race, so definitely don’t come on too strong. You know what feels right. Even if you can’t sit next to your crush this semester, make sure to sit next to the cute guy or girl who catches your eye on the first day of class next semester. Plan ahead, ladies.

3. Participate in class

The cliche may be to act dumb, but we can all agree that is super stupid. Participating in class is a win-win. Your grade will go up and your crush will be impressed (everyone loves a smart girl), so don’t sell yourself short. If you have a strong opinion you want to share during a discussion, share it. Being passionate is also an extremely attractive trait. Obviously, don’t change yourself for this class crush, we want them to fall for the real you. But, use them as a motivation to study and participate.

4. Take notes from Elle Woods.

It’s kind of like doing the bend and snap move from Legally Blonde but leave out the part where you break their nose. Try to do this when you are walking out of class. They will pick it up and this might lead to an introduction. If this is the case, keep talking to them! Maybe you can even end up walking to your next class with them. If you run out of things to talk about, you can always talk about the class you guys have in common or ask them about themselves (people love to talk about themselves). Also, take this time to find out if they are mask-fishing you.

Follow this and you will no longer feel invisible. You can impress them with your fashion, smarts, and maybe even start a conversation with them. Life is too short to sit and watch opportunities pass by. You have nothing to lose so you might as well at least give your class crush a real shot, I mean who knows what could happen.
