Workout from home.

In the wake of coronavirus, more people than ever are working from home, and with some still reluctant to go to the gym, many are also choosing to workout from home. But building a workout regimen from the comfort of your own home or dorm can be challenging. When trying to navigate streaming services or YouTube videos, you have to find an instructor you like, exercises that you enjoy, and something that doesn’t require too much equipment. Some services are also more expensive than others, which is important to look out for when on a college budget. That said, here are some of our favorites to get you through your WFH—workout from home.

Subscriptions:

While subscriptions tend to fall on the pricier side when looking at options for working out at home, many are very reasonable and worth it! If you are an avid exerciser and know exactly what you like when working out, one of these subscriptions may be perfect for you.

  • Obé Fitness

Obé Fitness is a HIIT streaming app that offers 100 live classes each week and plenty of workouts on-demand. Most of their workouts are around 30 minutes, but they offer longer and shorter videos as well. The subscription is $27 a month and $199 a year, and when you use the code ATHOME at checkout, you can earn a free month!

  • Peloton

The Peloton spin bike has been a common favorite since the outbreak of coronavirus, but what some people don’t know is that Peloton also offers a spin class streaming app that provides thousands of at-home workouts that can be done with or without equipment. They offer tutorials on strength training, yoga, meditation, stretching, and cardio and charge $12.99 per month.

  • TheDailySchvitz

TheDailySchvitz was started by one of our very own and is the perfect workout for us college students. Jordanna Drazin graduated from SU last year and created the Instagram account @TheDailySchvitz. Her account features healthy recipes, motivation, and live workouts. Recently, she launched her own subscription service which she calls “Schvitzscription.” Schvitzscription offers an on-demand library of exclusive workouts and access to new workouts every week at only $10 a month! It’s definitely something to check out.

YouTube Videos:

If you aren’t a fan of subscription services and don’t want to commit to a whole year or month of workouts, YouTube videos are probably for you.

  • Chloe Ting

If you use TikTok, you definitely know of Chloe Ting. She offers a wide array of free at-home workout videos and challenges that lead to serious results. Her videos range from 10-50 minutes and are great if you want to target specific areas.

  • Sami Clarke

Sami Clarke’s YouTube videos are also widely popular. Her channel features a bunch of workout videos that tend to be shorter in length, ranging from 5-30 minutes. She also shares videos showing nutritious recipes and her day-to-day life.

  • 305 Fitness

If you prefer more of a dance experience when working out, 305 is for you. 305 Fitness is a dance cardio workout with a live DJ in the studio. Due to COVID-19, all 305 studios were closed, but thankfully they’ve created a way to participate from home. 305 has an array of dance cardio workouts on-demand on YouTube in addition to free live classes, happening DAILY at 12 pm.

Instagram Lives:

With so much going on in our world today, many businesses have taken to Instagram to maintain their connections with customers and clients. Below are some accounts that regularly post Instagram live workouts.

  • SoulCycle Off the Bike

The popular workout company unfortunately had to close their studios due to the pandemic, but their Instagram offers free live workouts and meditation sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, taught by their very own beloved instructors. Check out SoulCycle's Instagram account every Monday at noon for the lineup of instructors and workout info for the week. No equipment is required.

  • POPSUGAR Fitness

POPSUGAR Fitness is part of the renowned website POPSUGAR entertainment. They post their schedules on Instagram every Sunday and have 30 minute live workouts on Instagram and YouTube.

With so many options to choose from, you can be sure to find a way to workout from home and enjoy it!
