The Lyst Index is a mathematical ranking of the most popular clothing brands and products. Every three months, Lyst releases quarterly rankings so you can find out what is trending and when. The third-quarter index revealed Saint Laurent on top of the leaderboard for the first time and Havaianas coming in with its flip-flops as the No. 1 product. For those who want whatever is in style, the Lyst Index will make sure you are staying on trend with the best items.
What is Lyst?
Lyst is a giant online mall — like if Bloomingdale’s went digital and multiplied in size. The shopping site sells inventory from different businesses across the internet. Highsnobiety says, “you can search for anything — Cecilie Bahnsen ASICS sneakers, Simone Rocha barrettes — and somewhere in the far reaches of the Lyst galaxy, it will emerge.” Lyst tracks a person’s activity on its site and finds recommendations based on purchases and liked items. The website has 160 million active users and 10 million active on-site product listings each day. As Katy Lubin — vice president of Lyst and creator of the Lyst Index — puts it, Lyst is “the best, easiest shopping interface in the world.”
What is the Lyst Index?
The Lyst Index determines brand rankings through a customized algorithm that uses data from its website, Google search rankings, social media data and reported sales. Magazines and fashion sites report on the index and offer shopping guides based on where brands are ranked, leading companies to pride themselves on their placement. The higher your placement on the list, the more your sales and social visibility will improve.
