Hollister’s newest Spring Break collection brings back fun styles, patterns, and colors inspired by early 2000s-2010s summer looks.

With the recent rise of early 2000s fashion and the comeback of the 2016 aesthetic, brands like Hollister have brought back some of their old styles and pieces from the past. Their recent collection brings us back to their roots with colorful bikinis, old school Henleys, and an array of babydoll camis, just in time for the long-awaited spring break after a painfully long winter.

Why 2000’s?

As people grow up and change with the society around them, many turn to nostalgia as a form of escapism. The demand for old trends to return demonstrates how comfort and familiarity can help during times of rapid change. Social media trends and platforms like TikTok and Instagram can bring back any fashion trend just by one viral video. Influencers like Bella Hadid, Addison Rae, and Darianka Sánchez have helped to bring back whimsy Y2K outfits with bold color combos, low-rise jeans, patterned mini skirts and many more pieces. In the fashion world, old trends are often recycled and redesigned to fit modern styles and aesthetics. With the rise of thrifting culture, affordable fashion, and conserving the planet, paying for overpriced fast fashion is out.

The Reseller Effect

Founded in July of 2000, the West Coast-inspired clothing brand has made its mark in the clothing industry – especially when it comes to its iconic Y2K looks. Many of Hollister’s old pieces from that time can still be found, but are rare to find in thrift stores or on resale websites like Depop, eBay, or WhatNot, to name a few. However, with the high demand and low inventory of these products, most resellers tend to list pieces at crazy high prices, anywhere from $80 to hundreds for one shirt. These high prices defeat the purpose of recycling clothing and make it hard for fun trends to be affordable as well.

Hollisters Vault

With their spring collection, Hollister’s new drops are perfect for the break. Some items include three new Henley's  with fun spring colors and graphics, like the Callie Reversible Camis  which is the perfect two-in-one shirt to save luggage space, and new Tie Front Babydoll Tops  in fun patterns like hot pink polka dot (very Addison Rae), butter yellow, and grey for those who prefer a simpler look. Their new swimwear is also perfect for any tropical destination and gives Zara Larsson a Midnight Sun summer. Whether you’re traveling to Florida or Mexico, there's a style for everything. Loving the polka dot trend? There are plenty of butter yellow polka dot styles. Not into cheeky swim bottoms but still want something cute? The new swim shorties provide moderate coverage while still being fun and practical.

The 2000’s are here to stay, so why not embrace them with a new piece from Hollister? After all, they know how to bring back a trend without making it tacky or overdone.
